Responsible for assigning work, planning for critical deadlines, training associates, coaching associates, providing performance feedback, and coordinating with other departments to cover manpower needs. Results: By the end of second year IND5 was best building in the network (Amazon). SAT1 achieved both best legacy launch to date and best Kiva Systems launch to date in 2013 and 2014 (Amazon). San Antonio DC had the fastest launch servicing 800+ stores in under 6 months while setting Inventory Control records (Dollar General).

Improved material handling process to reduce costs. Created a “mile marker” system for the product racks allowing workers to easily identify destination without having to look to either side to verify location. Results: Reduced the number of new associate safety incidents by 50% and improved the rate of those same associates by 25%, creating a safer and more efficient environment.

Developed method to determine root causes of operational variances. Reviewed and analyzed all factors affecting management of productivity. Instituted procedures and policies to eliminate systemic causes of errors. Results: Reduced variances by 45%, positively impacted order processing and customer service, and improved financial results (SAT1 Amazon).

Standardized procedures and policies for the fulfillment centers and assembly department. Instituted a process to improve existing guidance found in different formats. Developed daily checklist of responsibilities for various positions into a standardized methodology. Results: Streamlined and strengthened the overall operation of the centers, reducing errors and improving performance.

Identified and developed associates into leadership roles. Trained new associates each peak season at Amazon (100+ individuals each year). Cross-trained most of those associates in multiple functions. Developed top-performers from the cross-trained associates. Results: Expanded the talent base resulting in an average of 3 base level associates promoting into leadership roles each year and set new managers up for success with 75% of my trainees being promoted.

Improved communication between workforce and supervision. Mentored workers at Chrysler’s ITP1 to vocalize Results: Resolved a re-occurring quality issue causing automatic transmission failure in the field by identifying a shipment of parts which had not been properly verified before being delivered to the workers, preventing over 5000 potentially defective transmissions from being assembled and sold to customers.

Trained the Leadership Team Members for new facility. Mentored newly hired managers on Amazon Kiva Systems for two months prior to the launch of TPA2 (the new Tampa warehouse). Mentored newly hired Inventory Control Supervisor for DG’s Janesville, WI facility Results: Influenced the team which achieved a better launch than we had by sharing all the hard lessons learned and best practiced we had discovered at SAT1 (Amazon) and ensured that the Janesville DC started operations with reliable methods of achieving high quality inventory accuracy (Dollar General)

Systems Development

Established standard work instructions. Developed formal instructions for each station of ITP1’s final assembly department complete with embedded illustrations to improve worker performance. Results: Reduced time and cost associated with hiring and training of new assembly associates. New associates also easily cross-trained to allow greater staffing flexibility without increased defects.

Oversaw implementation of standard work protocols for outbound operations. Achieved best shift results in launches at Amazon by mentoring associates on best practices learned. Created clear FIFO areas to mitigate lost orders and streamline order fulfillment. Results: Amazon’s SAT1 launched 10% better than the previous best building launch measured by boxes loaded onto shippers trucks divided by total hours invested in outbound labor force.

Charity and Volunteer EndeavorsRecruited and managed Sunday School Staff at Grissom Church of Christ. Recruited and trained new teachers and teacher’s aides. Improved individual teacher performance and mentored the teacher’s aides into becoming teachers. Increased trained teachers by over 40%. Results: The Church of Christ at Grissom had an active and fully staffed Sunday School program when I moved away.

Dedicated several years to re-occurring trips in Central America. Improved the facilities of several missionaries with volunteer labor. Trained local men in leadership principles. Attended a missionary safety summit where security results from several groups were shared and protocols to prevent victimization were established.
