wanted to be his peer Buddy. Because Dylan had a job

and pitched and played outfield for the baseball team, he had to make significant schedule changes to be able to spend time with Keven. This he did, and, as a result, they joined the bowling club and the Special Olympic Bocce Ball team. Dylan’s experience with Keven has caused him to consider a career working with kids like Keven.

In a letter to lead teacher, Peggy DiFrancesco, Keven’s parents expressed their thanks for all that the program and Dylan, whose friendship Keven cherishes, have done for their son. They observed that “this program seems to affect all students and faculty, not just those in the program.”

Dylan is going west for college to Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles. l

a never-give-up attitude. He knew blocking assignments for the entire offensive line so he called out any changes before every play.

In the spring of his senion year, Dan was the unanimous choice for captain of the lacrosse

team. He started at goalie all four years and led off-season workouts which included yoga. He’s headed to Stevens Institute of Technology, a renowned engineering school in Hoboken, NJ. He plans to continue playing lacrosse in college. l

The 1962 team started well, winning 7 of their first 9 games. Included were wins over strong Lower Merion and Chester teams. However, key injuries to Bernie Schaffer and Tom Juenger affected the remainder of the season, leading to an 8-10 record.

Thanks to donors, Juenger Fund continues to grow

This is the thirteenth year for the Stephen M. Juenger Memorial Fund, and we are pleased that this year’s awards are $8,000 for each student.

The Fund was formed in 2004 as a worthy tribute to Steve Juenger who passed away in November 2003 at the age of 88. Coach Juenger was actively involved at Haverford High School for over 55 years, coaching basketball and other sports for

45 years. After “retiring,” he continued to help at Haverford. He had a profound influence on thousands of students—in the classroom, in the gym, and on athletic fields.

Our focus is on two scholarships. One goes to a Haverford senior athlete (or athletes) who best displays

the attributes taught by Steve Juenger—leadership, character, and sportsmanship.

The second goes to a Haverford senior (or seniors) who displays excellence in community service. This award honors Coach Juenger’s lifelong devotion to Janet, his daughter with special needs. l
