Step 2 – Download and Load 7‐Zip and winMD5 Applications

Open your browser and type in www.7‐zip.org/download.html. Click on the "Download" link for the 7‐zip executable to download 7‐zip.

Once the "File Download" window appears, click the "Run" button.(Note: the filename may be different from the slide, since the version is part of the name, so a newer version would have a different file name.)

Once finished downloading, the 7‐zip setup window will appear. Click "Install".

7‐zip will complete its installation on its own. Click "Finish" you see this window.

After 7‐zip is installed, open your browser again. Go to www.winmd5.com and click the "WinMD5 Freeware Download" link.

When the "File Download" window appears, click the "Save" button.

Again, we will save this file to the "Desktop" by clicking the "Save" button.

After Winmd5free has finished downloading. Right click on it andselect "7‐zip > Extract Here". The "Winmd5free" icon should appear on your desktop.

To confirm its working, double click on the "Winmd5free" icon to start the application. Normally, you would click Browse and select the file you would like to verify it’s md5 sum, but we won’t do that until the next set of slides.

You are now finished downloading and installing 7‐ZIP and MD5 programs. Now you can proceed to downloading and installing the VMWare Player Application.
