Step-by-step guide on how to answer passage-based question
(i) Read the questions first. Highlight the key words in the question.
(i) Read the passage thoroughly and look out for:- Plot (what happens in the passage?)- Who are the characters?- Look at the body language of the characters. - Look at the emotions of the characters as expressed through
their words and thoughts. - Look at where the story is set and the mood/atmosphere of the
scene.- Any repeated words or ideas?- Look for any interesting diction (word choice) used to describe
the character or situation.
**Annotate (highlight/write notes) at the side as you do the above
