Step by Step Guide: STAR-CA or NetTutor

STEP 1:

Click on this hyperlink. https://www.portervillecollege.edu/learning-center/learning-center or copy and paste it into your web browser. STEP 2: You will then see the Learning Center Web page as shown.

NOTE:

This site has tons of resources for supporting you through your courses. You can find all the schedules for student workers (Peer/Embedded Tutors, Math Mentors, Writing Mentors, PASS Leaders, STAR-CA Tutors, PC Tech Navigators). If you click on “Tutoring & Academic Resources”, you will also find several resources for studying, reading, writing, and online learning.

STEP 3: Scroll down the page and click on “Virtual Learning Center”.

You will now see the Virtual Learning Center Canvas page.

Click on “Online Tutoring”.

STEP 6:

You will now see the “Online Tutoring” page with three options: Virtual Learning Center (where you can drop-off a paper for Writing Mentors to review), STAR-CA, and NetTutor.

STEP 7:

Click on STAR-CA to receive assistance from tutors at other California Community Colleges (check STAR-CA Schedule for tutor availability: https://www.portervillecollege.edu/learning-center/learning-center) or NetTutor for 24/7 tutoring support.

STEP 8:

Once you click on STAR-CA or NetTutor, you will now see the below options (list of subjects are continued on next page).

Select either option for support.

Once you click on STAR-CA or NetTutor, you will now see the below options. Click on the subject that you need tutoring assistance.

STEP 9: You will now see several options: Drop-in Tutoring (schedule for drop-in tutoring is located in the far left under your name – this option is available for STAR-CA, but it is called One-on-One Live Room(s)), Schedule an Appointment (schedule an appointment with a tutor – this option is not available for STAR-CA), Drop off a Paper (this option is not available for STAR-CA), Drop off a question (this option is not available for STAR-CA), and Your [Subject] Locker. Click on one of the options to receive services. NetTutor Options:
