We will be using the EdBlocks app to start with, students who need to be extended canuse a document I have created that translates block coding into Python. These studentsshould use EdBlocks first, then 'reverse engineer' their block coding into Python.

Students will start programing the Edison RobotsStudents will start programing the Edison Robotsusing EdBlocks.using EdBlocks.This is an online app that can be clicked on at cpahs.com



The EdBlocks online appThe EdBlocks online app1. Once you are in the app, you can choose from the catagories of commands at thetop.

2. Once you have clicked on a catagory, you can drag a block down and connect it tothe start button.

3. Then click program edison. See the end of this document for instructions on how toprogram the Edison.

Programming the EdisonProgramming the EdisonThis is a step by step guide specific to the Samsung Lapsops



Once you have created a block program, click 'Program Edison'.



Connect the Edison lead to the headphone jack of theConnect the Edison lead to the headphone jack of theSamsung laptop.Samsung laptop.

Move ForwardMove ForwardThis makes the Edison roll forward. The number represents seconds. You can use upto 2 decimal places.

Eg 3.75 seconds



Move backwards. This makes the Edison rollMove backwards. This makes the Edison rollbackwards.backwards.

Turn LeftTurn LeftThe block below instructs the Edison to turn the right wheel only for 0.4 seconds. Thisresults in a 90 degrees left turn. Depending on the surface, this may change. Eg 0.39



Turn RightTurn RightThe block below instructs the Edison to turn the left wheel only for 0.4 seconds. Thisresults in a 90 degrees right turn. Depending on the surface, this may change. Eg 0.39

1.Send a signal to another Edison1.Send a signal to another EdisonThis will send a signal to another Edison. The other Edison will have a program that iswaiting for this signal.



Receive a signal from another EdisonReceive a signal from another EdisonIn this case, the signal is recieved and the 2nd Edison rolls forward for one second.

Wait for a period of timether EdisonWait for a period of timether EdisonIn this case, the Edison will wait for one second before rolling forwards for one second



Wait for a clap (or any load noise)Wait for a clap (or any load noise)In this case, the Edison will wait for a clap, the roll forwards for one second.
