Science, Math and Technology teachers are STEM educators working in STEM education.

S.T.E.M. education has been around for years, and years…

Integrative curriculum, thematic units, interdisciplinary study, etc.

Integrative S.T.E.M. Education:“teaching and learning between/among any

two or more of the S.T.E.M. subject areas, and/or between a S.T.E.M. subject and one or more other school subjects.”

S.T.E.M. Schools—focus on problem-based learning

TRADITIONAL SCIENCE FAIR S.T.E.M. FESTIVAL

Individual students or teams Teams of 4-8 depending on project

Judged Not judged

Must include scientific method Can follow scientific method if experimental design is chosen or can be a demonstration which teaches others

Research paper Research can be displayed using PP, video, etc.

Typically does not have a service learning component.

May incorporate a service learning component.

Provides evidence to support or not support a hypothesis

Solves a problem, teaches something or provides evidence to support or not support a hypothesis

Incorporates local businesses support through judging of projects

Incorporates local businesses support through materials, advising, monetary, etc.
