Stem-changing Verbs: What is a stem-changing verb?

• A verb that has a spelling change in the stem What is the “stem” of a verb?

• What is left when the AR, ER or IR is removed How exactly will the stems change?

• There are THREE major types of stem changes: • o ue • e ie • e i • u ue (ONLY the verb “jugar” has this change!!)

These are the 3 main types of stem changers!

Stem-changing Verbs: Does the stem change occur in every

subject pronoun? • NO!! It is occurs in all pronouns EXCEPT

nosotros and vosotros Are the conjugation endings still the

same?
