Please ensure you are checking your emails on regular basis for additional
information from us.
Please ONLY use one email address for this process, the one which you
provided at the interview.
Good Luck and we look forward to welcoming you!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT TRAINING
DO I NEED TRAVEL AND MEDICAL INSURANCE?
All UK citizens are covered under the NHS system in the UK for medical care, however, all other recruits will
need medical cover. All students need their own travel insurance, for medical and loss of personal items.
THE YMCA, AM I AUTOMATICALLY BOOKED IN?
Yes, you are automatically booked in upon receipt of your signed Training Programme Acceptance and
Terms letter and providing you have sent copies of your passport and C1D visa. However, please book in as
early as you can the day before your Training Date to secure your place.
HOW MUCH LUGGAGE CAN I TAKE?
Due to various Airline rules, we say maximum weight is 20 kilos. It is better to bring suitcases that can ‘fold’
down, as there is very little room in your cabin for storage.
HOW MUCH MONEY WILL I NEED?
Please see Appendix at the end of this document to confirm breakdown of costs. Additionally, during
training, please allow enough funds for “social expenditure”, remember, London is VERY EXPENSIVE.
When you have been given your flight details, you must have enough money to cover any additional
expenses such as travel to the airport and hotel (if required), as you know Steiner will pay for your flight, but
YOU need to get yourself to the airport, and onto the ship.
WHEN DO I HAVE MY MEDICAL?
If you are training in London you will have your medical on the first day of training, a letter will
be in the room at the YMCA explain when you arrive.
IS THERE WIFI AT THE ACADEMY AND THE YMCA?
Yes, there is free WIFI in both places.
WHAT SHOULD I PACK FOR THE ACADEMY:
Pack as though you are going on a two-week holiday
WILL I GO BE ABLE TO GO HOME BEFORE I LEAVE FOR THE SHIP?
In most cases no, once training is completed you will leave for the ship straight away.
DO WE WORK WEEKENDS?
Depending your training program, most students will be in training over part of the weekend.
DO YOU PROVIDE LOCKERS AT THE ACADEMY?
We advise everyone to take a locker for your personal items, money, phone, passport etc. These are
available from reception at the Academy. Please do not leave any personal items unattended.
NOTES
