Steel Hardness Conversion Below is a conversion table for the hardness of the steel. The values listed are for reference only. There are some parameters that could change the conversion. For example, the HV is only testing on a focused small spot, where the HRC/HB would have a test result from a much bigger area. Surface Roughness ConversionIn Taiwan and China, usually we use metric "Ra" system for the surface roughness measurement.

In USA, you can simply divide the inch roughness number by 40 to get the metric Ra number. For example, if the inch drawing specifies surface roughness 32.

32 / 40 = Ra 0.8

Surface roughness can be specified in different way of measure. Below is a conversion table of them.

- There are a lot more materials available, but due to the size limit of this web page, we could only make a list of the most frequently used ones.- Also due to the size limit of this web page, the mechanical properties and some detail requirements of the composition could not be included in this list.- Materials could have different names when the form/utility is changed. For example, SS304 could be specified as CF-8 when used for casting processes.- Any further information, please contact SINAMA, we will have our metallurgist to answer
