≪Importance of Proper Use of Grinding Wheels≫Grinding wheel is a safe tools if a few basic rules listed below are followed. However, improper use may cause grinding wheel breakage. For your safety, be sure to observe the "Dos" and "Don'ts". The following basic rules are based on the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health and on Structural Standard for Grinders and Related Equipment.

■Education and Training for SafetyArticle 59, Paragraph 3 of the Industrial Safety and Health Law states that when worker is to be assigned to dangerous or harmful operations,the employer shall provide that worker with special education for safety and/or health concerning the operations.Article 36, Paragraph 1 of the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health identifies "work involving the replacement of grinding wheels or their trial runs at the time of replacement" as a form of dangerous or harmful work.Therefore, special safety and/or health education must be performed when employer assigns a work to "work involving the replacement of grinding wheels or their test runs at the time of replacement."Article 2 of the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health, the special education pertaining to the mechanical (free) grinding wheel shall be conducted by the academic education and practical education.SubjectsKnowledge of mechanical (free) grinding machines, mechanical grinding wheels, and fixtures, etc.Knowledge of methods of fitting and trial run of mechanical (free) grinding wheelsRelevant registrationPractical educationTotal

Observe the 3 basic rules of "no rolling, no dropping, and no contact with the other objects". Store wheels on a shelf or storage rack in a dry place.Store wheels in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Depressed center wheel & Cutting-off wheelFollow a "FIRST-IN FIRST-OUT" order when using wheels. (Reference 1) Depressed center wheel & Cutting-off wheelDo visually inspect all wheels before mounting for possible damage and ring test.Do check machine speed and size against the established maximum safe operating speed and wheel dimensions marked on wheels.
