You may bring a lawn chair and a blanket, but the service will only last about 15 - 20 minutes. We will gather, sing a hymn (still wear your masks), have a Scripture and brief homily as we remember and reimagine what it would have been like to have arisen early to go to the tomb of Jesus only to find, “He’s not there!” Where is he? Where has he been for the past year? For the past 2000 years? Is He really still alive? Are we? Are you? Can you arise early on that one morning each year to celebrate the fact that... “He is Risen!!!”? Join us Sunday morning at 7 A.M. for Sunrise Worship, 10 A.M. for Sunday School, 10:30 A.M. for the Easter Egg Hunt, and then 11 A.M. for our regular Easter Worship (with new members joining that day). Holy Week Prayer Great God, we thank you for Jesus, who was punished for our sins, and suffered a shameful death to rescue us. We praise you for the trust we have in him, for mercy undeserved, and for the love you pour out on us, and on all. Give us gratitude, O God, and a great desire to serve you, by taking our cross and following in the way of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

For over 70 years, One Great Hour of Sharing has provided Presbyterians a way to share God’s love with our neighbors in need around the world. Millions of people lack access to

sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity. The three programs supported by One Great Hour of Sharing - Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People - all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need. From initial disaster response to ongoing community development, their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope. Visit the One Great Hour of Sharing website, learn more about this important ministry of the PCUSA, and give generously. Offering will be taken on Sunday, April 4, 2021.

Scripture for Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021

Isaiah 25:6-9 (NRSV) 6 On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear. 7 And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; 8 he will swallow up death forever. Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken. 9 It will be said on that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited;

Mark 16:1-8 (NRSV) 1When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. 2And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. 3They had been saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” 4When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back. 5As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. 6But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. 7But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.” 8So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

What does Isaiah say that God will do for ALL people? What impact does that have on the people? Who is it again that will do this? Are you happy with the fact that Isaiah says that God will do that for ALL people? Why or why not?

In Mark, what did the women do on the very first day of the week, “when the sun had risen?” What was their attitude about the situation as they went to the tomb? What was their first observation and reaction to NOT finding things as they had expected? Who was the first to speak to their emotions and what was said? What instructions were then given? Did they follow these instructions? Why or why not, do you think? Have you, we, always followed holy instructions given to us? Why or why not?
