We have increased our region of patrol from 3 to 4 areas to improve the response time for the Mobile Patrol Unit.

The Safety and Security Department utilizes the U. S. Justice Department’s SchoolCop data management system to record incidents for SLPS use only. This system also allows us to track types of incidents, locations, areas, severity that are reported to our department in order for us to effectively deploy resources.

We continue to collaborate with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department to be apprised of all incidents (homicides, gang activities, shootings, fights) that could possibly impact our schools. Members of our Command Staff attend weekly meetings (CompStat) with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department .

We have updated the District’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), Central Office Emergency/Contingency Plan and are reviewing individual Schools’ Emergency Operations Plans.

The Safety & Security Department’s Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certified Instructors provides on-going training for School Personnel on how to properly intervene with disruptive students.

The American Red Cross has certified four of our School Safety Officers to teach First Aid/CPR, AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) and they are ready to provide instruction.

School Safety Personnel will provide Emergency Response Team (ERT) training to the community in conjunction with the City of St. Louis Emergency Management Partners.
