38 th TTEG Meeting on safety of Navigation in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore 09 – 10 October 2013 Agenda item 5.1 TTEG 38/5.1 08 October 2013 STATUS REPORT ON AIDS TO NAVIGATION Submitted by Malaysia 1.0 Background 1.1 The Meting noted on the 18 aids to navigation maintained by Malaysia is located along the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore is within Malaysia’s territorial waters. Malaysia has taken appropriate measures to ensure that these aids to navigation followed the activities stipulated in the Plan Maintenance Programme (PMP) adopted and approved in the Aids to Navigation Fund under the Cooperative Mechanism. The activities comprises of maintenance, replacement and renewal programme. 1.2 The details of the aids of navigation as follow :- (i) Lighthouse :- (1) Bukit Segenting Lighthouse, Johor; (2) Pulau Undan Lighthouse, Malacca; (3) Tg. Tuan Lighthouse, Malacca; (4) Bukit Jugra Lighthouse, Selangor; (5) One Fathom Bank Lighthouse, Selangor; (ii) Lightbeacon :- (1) Tompok Utara Light Beacon; (2) Pulau Mungging Light Beacon; (3) Tg. Piai Light Beacon; (4) Mudah Selatan Light Beacon; (5) Panjang Selatan Light Beacon; (6) Mudah Utara Light Beacon; (7) Panjang Utara Light Beacon; (8) Tg. Tohor Light Beacon; (9) Tg. Gabang Light Beacon; (10) Sepat Resilient Light Beacon; (11) Tg. Rhu Light Beacon; (12) One Fathom Bank North Light Beacon; (iii) Buoy :- (1) Piai Buoy;

STATUS REPORT ON AIDS TO NAVIGATIONSubmitted by Malaysia

1.0 Background

2.0 Current Status

2.1 Panjang Selatan Lightbeacon :-

Location : Lat. 01° 23.27' N; Long. 103° 07.52' ELight Characteristic : FL.W.5s

Remarks : The Panjang Selatan Light Beacon was destroyed on 28th May 2011. A new structure was established and completed on December 2012. The Notice to Mariners, Ref : NTM 73/2012 was issued dated on 6th December 2012. Notice attached as in Annex 1.

2.2 Restoration of Pulau Undan lighthouse

Location : Lat. 02o 2.9’N; Long. 102o 20.1’E

Remarks : The Marine Department Malaysia with the cooperation from the Public Work Department Malaysia (PWD) is conducting the restoration program of Pulau Undan lighthouse. The 1st phase of program comprises of geotechnical monitoring and soil meovement has completed in June 2013 while the 2nd phase on the structure rehabilitation is expected to commence in year 2014.

2.3 Installation of Automatic Identification System (AIS) Aids to Navigation Equipped With Meteorology and Hydrology Sensor at Tanjung Piai lightbeacon.

Remarks : AIS Aton with meteorological and hydrological sensor was installed at Tanjung Piai Light Beacon (Lat. 1° 15.5' N; Long. 103° 30.7' E) on February 2013. It used to collect hydrographic data such as weather and tides, tidal streams and direction in real time. The AIS AtoN stations transmit Messages 6, 8 and 21.
