Asia OSS SymposiaAsia OSS Symposia Up until March 2006, Seven OSS symposia have been held, with participants
from 21 economies, to discuss issues relating to the OSS.
Achievements of the Asia OSS Symposium Announcement of the KL statement Action plans of the Kuala Lumpur (KL) Statement
were formulated such as; OSS Eco-system, Human resource development, Standardization/Localization, and CodeFest.
Reflection to policy measures The Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam announced the Master Plan “Applying and
Developing Open Source Software” at the 3rd Hanoi Symposium.
Exchange and cooperation among participants of Asia OSS Symposia
A total of more than 750 persons participated from communities, private, academic, industrial and government. They promote and cooperate in OSS in their respective economies.

【Achievement of the Code Fest】
The 6th Code Fest in Sri Lanka Debian Developing Teams were able to develop human
resources through the Code Fest. Upgraded the hardware-recognition and created the
Live CD with the modified installer. Exchanged PGP/GPG keys; verified that Sinhalese-
input is capable in OpenOffice.org through SCIM (Smart Common Input Method Platform).
The 7th Code Fest in Malaysia As a 30-hour-marathon event, a special Linux distribution
was created as a Live CD.
