Mobile Device Accessibility● Accessibility features built into the iPad
○ Features to provide access for students with vision, hearing, physical/motor, literacy, and learning disabilities
● Similarly, the Chromebook offers a keyboard, touchpad and built‐in touchscreen and microphone
○ Accessibility options (under Advanced settings) include: adjust mouse size; adjust contrast; enable sticky keys ‐key stay pressed when multiple keys are needed; enable ChromeVox which allows for the read to be screen aloud; enable a screen magnifier

● 38% of students and 13% of teachers reported websites frequently blocked/not loading
● 29% of students and 25% of teachers reported WCSD WiFi frequently not working
● 12% of students and 13% of teachers reported apps/sites frequently freezing/crashing
● 9% of students and 58% of teachers reported frequently forgetting to charge
● 7% of students and 45% of teachers reported frequently leaving device home
● 21% of students and 7% of teachers reported home WiFi frequently not working

Expressed concerns:
Discontinuation of 1:1 initiative at High School and subsequent transition from
student assigned devices
Ability to further restrict access to internet or gaming sites
Potential health concerns related to overuse of device, weight of device, eye strain
Expressed positives:
Use of the mobile device as a primary tool for learning and organization of
materials

Instructional Highlights
Enhancing the Literacy Processes
Students participate in Global Speed Chat and Storybird to “Share Your Story.” Students use Adobe Spark Video to create short videos about themselves and post them to Global Speed Chat’s Padlet. Students access a variety of literature digitally and interact with the text.

Interactive Science Labs
Students engage in science center‐based units with all aspects of the learning process driven from GSuite for Education that contain interactive unit plans and interactive labs.
Global Connections
Students experience “virtual” field trips to global destinations. They are guided through various sites of importance to gather information and perspectives. Students create brochures to demonstrate understanding.

Notemaking
Students create and design their own notes with images, color, hyperlinks, etc. They use Google Docs, Drawings, & Slides.
Creativity and Discovery
Students are self‐directed ‐‐creating, designing, discovering, and building using structures such as maker spaces.
