SUSY particles

■ SUSY may be next candidates for Nature after Higgs discovery- Large corrections to the Higgs boson mass- Dark matter - Unification of gauge coupling constants

■ SUSY search categories dramatically changed after Higgs- Natural SUSY

- 3rd generation scalar quarks being very important !- Electroweak production

- Inclusive searches for squarks and gluinos (conventional searches)

- gluino / squark pair producion

Anomalous Gauge Couplings

• Triple gauge boson couplings (TGCs):- charged TGC : WWZ, WW : allowed in SM- neutral TGC : ZZZ, ZZ, Z: forbidden in SM

• anomalous gauge couplings (aTGCs, aQGCs)

- aTGCs/aQGCs can enhance total production rate and modify kinematic distribution.

- LHC will provide the most sensitive tests on a aGC due to much higher energies - compared to Tevatron and LEP

• Quartic gauge boson couplings (QGCs):- charged QGC : WWZ, WW ,WWZZ, WWWW : allowed in SM- neutral QGC : ZZ,ZZZZ : forbidden in SM

Look for aTGC and aQGC for new Physics

Milestone of the LHC

■ LHC- Reach design lumi by LS2- A series of Phase I upgrade is

being planned towards LS2- Collect 300 fb-1 by 2022- The inner and forward parts of

the detector will cease function due to radiation damage.

■ HL-LHC- Expecting 3000fb-1

- Expecting ~140 pileup - Phase II upgrade aims to achieve

HL-LHC goals.

13/14 TeV Preparations(example)

There are lots of tasks going on by major teams before turning the 13 TeV machine on

All kinds of simulations and calculations are on their way in advance

Computing requirement for k-factor calculation as an example

• 1 mass points : 1 day using 154 CPUs about two months for one energy scan !

• Therefore it need to be done in advance due to lots other tasks ahead !

• Tier-3 computing power is very important !

Summary

Most important era for new physics for the next decade !

Discovery of the Higgs gives a big impact to the future LHC detectors must remain sensitive to EWK-scale physics While maximizing sensitivities to new physics

LHC upgrade present several challenges Trigger and pile-up and radiation hardness Both ATLAS and CMS upgrade are being designed to deal with

Projected Physics Reach SUSY and Exotic particle discovery potential ranging from 0.6 to 7 TeV

doubling the previous searches Anomalous gauge couplings are on the edge of testing Higgs couplings to ~ 5% measurements or better
