2013NON FATAL DRUG OVERDOSES
BY COUNTY
Majority of the drug overdoses involved pharmaceutical drugs-with most abused being “Opiates” such as hydrocodone,
oxycodone, morphine, and fentanyl.
Some overdoses are “cocktails” and involve both street drug as well as
pharmaceuticals. This year 154 involved marijuana, 73-cocaine, 136-
methamphetamine, 47-heroin, 1-ecstasy and 19-PCP.
Oklahoma is averaging 6 non fatal overdoses per day.

Now more than 100 known Synthetic Cannabinoids - dozens found in smokable products FLAME STRAWBERRY FIELDS
Canavalia rosea – a pest vine that grows naturally around the Gulf of Mexico that is also known as Bay Bean or Beach Bean
Clematis vitalba – a noxious weed known as “Old Man’s Beard” or “Travelers Joy” that officials routinely try to kill off, especially in Washington State
Nelumbo nucifera – also known as “Labrador” or “Indian Lotus” – generally grown in Central India for the seeds which are dried and sold as decorative
VEGETABLE MATERIAL
Pedicularis grandifolia – also known as Elephant’s Head, a natural muscle relaxant and sedative
Heimia Salicifolia – a Chinese shrub that is known to be a mild hallucinogen also known as “Yellow Crest”
Leonurus sibiricus – an Asian herb known as “Honey Weed” and in some cultures called “Marijuanilla”
Ledum palustre – also known as “Marsh Tea” which contains central nervous system poisons known as Terpenes. In very small doses it is tolerable but in moderate or heavy doses it can make the user very ill.
SYNTHETIC CANNABIS
The packages are labeled “NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION”; no federal labeling regulations are in place and no ingredient list is required
A newer trend is emerging with individuals manufacturing their own synthetic cannabinoidsand spraying it on incense or herbal substances
Intoxicating Effects• Similar to Marijuana:
lowered blood pressure, impairment of psychomotor coordination, concentration, short-term memory, psychotic episodes.
• Duration: initial effects 20-30 min, high reportedly last 8-12 hours.
• Some of these are 100 to 800 times more potent than THC.
Physical and Mental Effects
• Hallucinations• Cardiac effects• Seizures• Rapid heart rate• Hypertension• Severe agitation• Passing out• Panic attacks
MARIJUANA
– Decreased attention span– Sleepy appearance– Euphoria– Glassy red eyes– Loudly talking– Giddiness– Slow speech– Memory loss– Mood elevation
Signs of Being Under the Influence
• Intoxication clearly reduces one’s judgment and impairs coordination.
Marijuana
• Persons exhibit many outward visible physical/behavioral indicators.
• The following indicators should be viewed in clusters as of systematic behavior when evaluating:
– Noise sensitivity– Poor coordination– Poor concentration– Slow gait– Pain relief– Drowsiness– Time distortion– Muscle relaxation

Problems occur in manufacture and user over-dose.
