INTERRUPTIONS.
For the week, there were 10 main leaks and 200 service
interruptions.
DISTRIBUTING STATION GETS LANDSCAPE MAKEOVER
Completed on January 22, 2019, Distributing Station 49 is
the latest LADWP facility to receive a drought tolerant
landscape makeover. With the application of Mediterranean-
California friendly landscape, the facility will save
approximately 437,550 gallons of water per year, equivalent
to the annual water savings for four single-family homes. In
fiscal year 18-19, LADWP has completed seven facilities, and 109 facilities from 2011 to date. Installations will have a
potential grand total water savings of approximately 48.7 million gallons each year. The California Friendly
®
Landscape Update Program was established to conserve
water, lower water usage and costs, lower landscape
operation and maintenance costs and provide ratepayers
with practical considerations and models to consider their
own properties.
NEWS & NOTES ————— ANGELENOS CELEBRATE OPENING OF IVANHOE PATHWAY
The Ivanhoe Reservoir Pathway was officially opened to the
public on Saturday, January 26, in a ceremony held at the
Silver Lake Reservoir Complex attended by community
members, city officials, and LADWP Board of
Commissioners and Chief Operating Officer and staff. Just
like the grand opening for the first walking path in February
2018, this year’s grand opening of the north walking path
also included a special 2.2 mile walk around the inside
perimeter of the Reservoir Complex, which is not ordinarily
open to the public. Both walkways are a component of the
Silver Lake Reservoir Complex Improvement Projects, a
series of measures that are being implemented after
feedback from local residents. They were refilled in the
Spring of 2017 ahead of schedule, using surplus water from
that year’s above-average Eastern Sierra snowpack.
POWER —————–———— OUTAGES
97.33% of customers experienced NO OUTAGES.
For the week, there were 312 outage incidents, affecting
39,941 customers, including:
21 full and partial circuit outages that affected 20,857
customers mostly in Fairfax, Silver Lake, Brentwood,
Winnetka, and Encino.
26 transformer outages that affected 618 customers
mostly in Silver Lake, Hyde Park, Wilmington,
Hollywood Hills and Sylmar.
RESIDENTIAL CONSUMER REBATE PROGRAM
LADWP offers the Consumer Rebate Program (CRP) to
residential customers to promote the use of energy-
efficient products. This program is designed to both
educate and encourage LADWP residential customers to
purchase and install qualifying products in their home.
Qualifying items include attic insulation, cool roofs,
residential windows, heating ventilation and air
conditioning systems, variable speed or flow pool pump
and motor, and whole house fans. For December 2018,
the rebates from the CRP saved approximately 666,334
kWh. That amount of savings offsets energy for about 111
homes and is equivalent to taking 50 automobiles off the
road and avoiding 232 metrics tons of greenhouse gas
emissions per year.
ENERGY SAVINGS AND INCENTIVES PROGRAMS
LADWP continues to assist its commercial customers in
saving energy and money. During the week of January
18-24, 2019 approximately 2,232 megawatt-hours (MWh) were saved through the Commercial Lighting Incentives and Customer Performance Programs. This amount of energy savings is equivalent to taking 372 homes off the grid and removing 167 gas-fueled vehicles off the road annually.
