Moda Fabrics is introducing the Piece and Comfort Challenge to recognize and honor the sacrifices that are made by our country’s military families. They have asked quilt shops across the country to join them along with you, our customers, to help say "Thank You" to not only the men and women who serve our country but also the families who make many sacrifices as well. Proceeds from this challenge will benefit USACares.org whose mission is to assist military families in their time of need.

Here are the Piece and Comfort Challenge details:

Breakfast Club 2015 VINTAGE QUILT REVIVAL

Are you ready for another year of quilt block fun? Breakfast Club 2015 has finally arrived or should we say…Revived! This year’s book Vintage Quilt Revival “is at the forefront of the burgeoning interest in the traditional-made-modern movement”. Make no mistake, the blocks in this book are traditional blocks, but the authors and Andrea will show you how to make the blocks fresh and appealing using today's more modern fabrics and techniques. Take a sigh of relief as well; there are only 20 blocks this time around.

On every second Saturday morning at 9am, starting March 14th, we will have coffee, donuts, learning… and FUN! At the first meeting we will get you excited, show the quilts, talk about what the program outline

and get you started on your first blocks. Then we will have 11 more classes of learning, sharing and showing. The last meeting in February 2016, will be the reveal party. This time around, things are not as structured which will result in everyone’s quilts turning out different. Exciting! The cost for the Breakfast Club membership is $200 for the entire year and must be paid at time of sign up. This includes your book, a fat quarter tower (of either Cotton and Steel Basics by RJR Fabrics or Bonnie and Camille prints by Moda), your block background fabrics (your choice) and class time instruction. Everyone who completes their quilt top and has attended at least 11 meetings will receive a $50 Quiltique Gift Card as a rebate. There will also be door prizes given away at each meeting. You will receive a raffle ticket for these awesome prizes at every meeting when you bring in your previous months' completed blocks. We will also keep going with the punch card for a discount on any one item just for attending that month, completed blocks or not. There is no sewing at this 1-hour meeting, just some lecture-style instruction, plenty of your show-and-tells, and some “what’s new and happening” at Quiltique. If you haven’t signed up for Breakfast Club in the past, we welcome you to join us and try something new. If you are a BC veteran…what are you waiting for? Get signed up today!

BLOCK OF THE MONTH'SSPRING SPROUTS - This beautiful spring quilt from Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts is ideal for both machine embroidery enthusiasts as well as quilters who enjoy machine appliqué. The bright batiks used in this quilt are from Edyta’s fabric line “Over the Rainbow” by Moda and standout against the soft light cream colored backgrounds. And the best part of this quilt is that the appliqué pieces are from the Laundry Basket Silhouettes line,

which are laser cut pieces, pre-fused and ready to be stitched down. This 12-month program will start in February and there will be a kick off class to get you started on the right foot (presser foot that is!) There is a class for both machine appliqué students and embroidery machine appliqué. Choose the class that suits you best and get on your way to creating this pretty spring quilt. Pricing for this quilt is $20 per month for twelve months. If you are doing machine embroidery, you will need to purchase your embroidery CD for an additional $50. Shipping is also available for our long distance friends. Please see page 13 for class dates and times.

JACOBEAN JOURNEY – Another stunning and dynamic quilt from HoopSisters! Starting January 2015 Quiltique will kick off our first session of the HoopSisters embroidery block of the month Jacobean Journey. With HoopSisters you can make perfectly quilted, pieced, and decoratively stitched

quilt blocks all in the hoop of ANY embroidery machine. The 2015 EmbroidaBlock of the Month Jacobean Journey will start in January and run for 7 classes scheduled every other month, giving you plenty of time to complete your blocks. There is one in the afternoon and another in the evening for your convenience. The program fee is $199 and will include all embroidery designs, your class instruction (we will not be sewing in class) and a full color program workbook. POSTAGE STAMP QUILT SEW-INSaturday, January 31OR Monday, April 20

10am – 5pmThe Postage Stamp quilt is the pattern for our all-new…all-day…sew-in ! Historically, a “postage stamp” quilt was a way to use up tiny scraps that were left over from various sewing projects. The size of the small squares usually measured just one inch, giving reference to the size

of a postage stamp. Today, a Postage Stamp Quilt serves the same purpose for many quilters and has also turned into a way to do something traditional with a modern twist. There are several ways to piece a Postage Stamp Quilt, historically done with no pattern at all, but modern sewing has brought us some great time saving techniques. Since you all seem to be really into scrap quilts these days, we thought this would be the perfect next quilt for our popular all-day sewing project! Join Anita for a relaxing day of sewing your scraps or your favorite 2 ½” strips and make your own one of a kind Postage Stamp Quilt. Use up some of your leftover Jelly Roll strips from home, bring some to swap, or use a Jelly Roll you've been saving and learn how to create this perfect snuggle-up quilt. Join us on Saturday, January 31st or Monday, April 20th for just $30. We will of course have hearty soup and salad for all to keep you stitching all day long. Another memorable day of stitching with friends is in store for you. These sewing days fill up fast so sign up today!

Spotlight ProductsPRESCENCIA 60 WEIGHT

SAMPLER PACKSArguably the best quilt piecing thread on the market! This 100% extra-long staple Egyptian cotton is mercerized for strength, colorfast and shrinkfast, tightly twisted and balanced, and virtually lint free. The higher the number in thread weight, the finer the thread. Therefore a 3-ply 60 weight thread is ideal to achieve that ¼” quilting

seam! The three packs are available in either Neutral or Basic colors. $13.99 each.

FINE GROUND TURKISH EMERY

This is the same emery used in emery boards and those little strawberries that come on some tomato pin cushions. Emery sand has long been known to sharpen needles but it also cleans them. Plum Easy likes to call it “Sharpen & Shine”. The French square bottle has a slender neck to pour easily into your pin cushion. A free Emery Filled Strawberry pattern is included. $10.65 per 4oz. bottle.

This is my favorite pincushion filling! It is perfect for filling small pincushions that you will actually use as a pincushion because it

keeps your pins and needles extra sharp. - Jan
