    EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Managing High Performers: Defining and Finding High Performers helps the learner to betteridentify high performers and, having recruited them, monitor and meet their needs. High

performers must be motivated, and this project includes practical guidelines for establishing trustand building rapport with them. It also offers advice on how to successfully recruit high

    performers

This project also has a case study which helps to give an over view of the practices beingundertaken by various companies from various sectors in respect of high potential management.

Many downsizing initiatives were used as performance management tools to help eliminate the

over-hiring that occurred during the boom and the inevitable redundancy it created. Managershad to identify their strongest and weakest members. Through multiple rounds of downsizing,

solid performers also ended up being let go. Many managers had spent inordinate amounts of

time focusing on poor performers and increasing workloads of top performers. Little attentionwas given to developing and managing HiPos. Now, attention is shifting to the organization'sfuture leaders. The project provides the complete inch of the issue and techniques of identifying,

retaining, and developing high potential employees.

With the help of this project I want to learn:

y To identify attributes of high performers.y To identify attributes of a high-performing organization.y To identify guidelines for gaining trust when managing high performers.y To identify guidelines for selling the job to the high performer.

    INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY

Objectives:Human Resource Management being a subject of human behavior has always been amatter of interest to me. The topic of High Potential Managementis a philosophy which

values and encourages employee development through a style of management which

provides frequent feedback and fosters teamwork. It emphasizes communication and

focuses on adding value to the organization by promoting improved job performance and

    encouraging skill development.

Limitations:y Time was a major constraint as not all companies entertain students assisting them

in their projects. Therefore getting appointments to meet the top level

management was not all that easy as there were many public holidays and to add

to the barriers, holidays declared during the swine flu crisis made acquiring

    information even more difficult.

Methodology:Initially the primary datas were collected by visits made to different companies.

Thereafter, relevant information were collected by various internet sites and books of

    different authors.

Having primary and secondary data in hand, all the data were synchronized and arranged

in an orderly manner to make all the topics and sub-topics clear and understandable to thereader to the best of my ability.
