1. On a Mac, click the Applications Folder > Adobe Photoshop CC 2017>Photoshop CC 2017, or click the Photoshop icon in the Dock.

Creating A New Document Begin by opening Adobe Photoshop CC 2017.

Main MenuThe menu is located at the top of the screen. This controls all the main functions of Photoshop CC.

Toolbar The toolbar is where most of the major tools are located for easy access.

Image Name The name of any image that you open will appear at the top of the image window as shown above.

Color Color palettes allows you to pick a color that you will use for tools such as the paint brush and paint buckets.

Adjustments Adjustments palettes allow you to enhance and edit your images through several options such as; Brightness/Contrast, Black and White and Hue/Saturation.

The Image The Image appears in its own window once the file has been opened.

Tools

File Formats & Saving FilesBasic File Formats.psd: This allows you to save your document with layers..tiff: Used for print documents. Used for documents being exchanged from platform to platform. .gif : Used for Web and are highly compressed. This allows a quicker download time..jpeg: Used for Web and print and allows documents to be saved with compression. The more a file is compressed the lower the quality of the image.

Saving FilesTo save a document go to File > Save As. Choose file format and click Save. (Figure 4)

Program Layout Continued... InfoInfo shows information within your document including location, word count and paragraph count.

EraserThis allows you to clear your mistakes by dragging the eraser over the area you have selected.

GradientFades colors from one color to another, creating a gradient effect.

Pen Allows you to draw or trace an object to make an outline of an image.

TextAllows you to write and change text that is placed into the document.

Arrow Tool Allows you to select and move an object by clicking on it .

ShapeAllows you to draw a rectangle, circles, lines and other shapes.

EyedropperAllows you to click on any color in your document and apply it to any other object.

Hand This tool allows you moves image within a document.

ZoomAllows you to zoom in on any part the document.

Marquee ToolAllows you to select a portion of an object by dragging the square or round marquee around it. After the selection is made you can make changes to it. The changes will only affect the area selected.

Lasso ToolAllows you to make freehand selections of an object.

Magic Wand Selects area of the same color and is used for making adjustments.

picture CropAllows you to crop a selective area of a to a certain size.

Clone StampThis tool can copy a selected area of an image and paint it onto any other part of the image.1. First hold down the ALT key and left-click

on a certain point of the docu-ment thatyou want to copy. This will be your copypoint.

2. Next put your mouse over the areawhere you want to apply the data thenclick and drag your mouse across thepageto copy the picture.

BrushAllows you to add brush strokes within your document using different thicknesses and colors.
