TALK ABOUT IT

(Story from Kylie Houser “Worship Girl”)

Have you ever seen a mountain before? They are majestic and HUGE! If you were able to go to a mountain today and tell it to move, do you think it would move? Probably not!

When Jesus talks about a mountain here, I don’t think he was talking about an actual mountain. (If He were, we would have mountains jumping into the sea everyday.) Instead, I think He was talking about things in our life that seemed big, intimidating or unmovable. This could be school, getting good grades, making friends, moving to a new town or a problem in your life.

Let me tell you a story. There was a time in my life when I did not have any friends. The reason was that we lived in a town in Utah and the families in our neighborhood did not want their kids playing with me because we are Christians. This was very hard on me and made me sad. During that time, I was home schooled and so I didn’t have school kids around either. I felt lonely and

wondered how I would be able to make friends.

I started to pray and ask God for friends. It seemed like a big, impossible thing to me and I was not sure how God would provide. But Jesus said if we have the faith of a mustard seed, nothing will be impossible for us.

One day my dad told us that we were soon going to move to a new Utah town. We prayed as a family and asked God to put us in the house He wanted us in. As soon as we moved, I quickly made lots of new friends. These friends became my best friends and we all have enjoyed life together. We love being together so much and have helped each other grow closer to God.

I am so thankful that God moves mountains in our lives. He said all we need to have is the faith of a mustard seed. It is the smallest seed. If you pinch your fingers together and un-pinch them just a little tiny bit, that is how big a mustard seed is. That is all the faith you need to have a mountain moved. We can really trust Him to move things that we cannot move on our own. What mountain do you need moved for you or your family right now?
