despite numerous interviews and photo calls at the bustling

Doha Tribeca Film Festival, India's top ashion designer

Manish Malhotra is calm and polite when GLAM meets

him. Dressed smartly in a blue (his ave colour) shirt, pin striped

waistcoat and tted pants he's the epitome o cool, exuding an

inviting aura boosted by his gentle voice and handsome looks. He is

actually pretty humble considering the act he's the man behind the

style o Bollywood's biggest stars such as Aishwarya Rai, Kareena

Kapoor, Kajol, Karisma Kapoor to name a ew in other words

the movers and shakers o ashion in lm, whose association has

ultimately caused him to become quite the celebrity himsel.

It's Malhotra's rst time in Doha, and he's been given the mam-moth task o creating bespoke designs or the estival's stars includ-

ing Doha Film Institute Executive Director Amanda Palmer, Yosra,

Dalia El Bahairy and Dorra Zarrouk, or the MENA premiere oBol-

lywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told. "I'm very excited to be

here especially during this special time o Diwali," the designing ex-

    travaganza enthralled.

Malhotra is characterised by his abulous ashion creations that

grace the gures o Bollywood's screen sirens, and it is thanks to the

opulent colourul combinations made up o luxurious materials, in-

tricate embroidery, embellishments, and an India meets West theme

that has caused the ashion world to all at his eet. He proves to be

hit among Arab clientele, especially in Dubai where he has a store.

"I think it is the opulence o the designs that appeals to women. I

haven't got any clients in Doha but hope that people will appreci-

ate my work, and would o course love to open a store here in the

    uture."

Malhotra started his career as a costume designer or lm, and

this set the oundations or him to carve out a career as India's most

successul ashion designer. So it is unsurprising that, aside romashion, what really makes him tick, is lm. "I really love watch-

ing movies, any spare time or opportunity I get, I watch them. I've

grown up watching lms and they've been a huge infuence on my

    ashion career."

However, despite his movie aection, he can't quite nail his most

memorable ashion moment in lm, as, "there have been so many o

them." Refecting his humble persona, when GLAM quizzed him as

to who has been his biggest support and inspiration, he shared: "It

has to be my mother because we are actually very similar." Cute!
