StarChild Academy Summer Camp Themes

𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏-𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎: 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐅𝐮𝐧: This week is all about teamwork, making friends, and good sportsmanship. We will get to know our fellow campers through welcome activities, a scavenger hunt, a giant knot, and bridge building. Campers will write letters in small groups to penpals. Friday is all about friendship with some friendship bracelets and friendship salad. We will also create an autograph book to have a souvenir of our summer camp experience and all of the friends we made. 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟖-𝟏𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎--𝐆𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧: Save the Earth! Learn all about ways to go green and make better choices for our environment. Campers will create art out of recycled materials, and make recycled paper. Using recycled soda bottles, campers will create terrariums. Do you have a lot of old run down crayons? Bring them in! We will turn them into new crayons. 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟓-𝟏𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎-𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐬 & 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬: Dragons, wizards, knights, oh my! It is time to go back in time and learn all about the myths and legends of ancient times. Were there really fire breathing dragons? Did Athena really hand down magical wisdom? Was Merlin getting into all kinds of magical trouble? It is time to find out as we learn magic, create mythical creatures, and learn a mythical story to act out in our very own short play. 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟐-𝟐𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎-𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐲𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫: Campers will spend the week adapting their favorite books for the big screen, collaborating, writing scripts, planning costumes and props, and filming in front of GIANT green screens. We will also take a “behind the scenes” look at special effects from favorite films. The week concludes with a red carpet premiere of their film trailers.

𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟗-𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎-𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: Learning is sweet with science that you can eat! Have some fun and play with your food while learning the science behind it. Edible Engineering combines physical science and food items to captivate even the most reluctant participant. From marshmallows to Pop Rocks, this is a tasty source for food experiments. The best part of the week is the ice cream truck will be making a visit, tour the truck and have a sweet treat. Chocolate, marshmallows, chewing gum, cotton candy... this week of candy chemistry will give you a serious sugar rush! 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟔-𝟏𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎-𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲: Is it going to rain today or will the sun be out? What is a cloud made of? During this week the campers will learn all about weather from why it rains to how tornadoes are formed. They will also make crafts and wacky weather experiments. 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟏𝟑-𝟏𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎-𝐌𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: “We are all mad here!!” This week we will dive into the world of mad science. Campers will grow crystals, make and compare slime, explode apples and race balloon cars. On Friday we will celebrate the end of summer with a fun filled water day. Pack your bathing suits!

𝐉𝐮𝐥y 𝟐𝟎-𝟐𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎-𝐎𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬: A camp for the athlete in all of us. Celebrate the international event from the Olympic torch marathon to the closing ceremonies. Campers will participate in various sporting events while learning about the history of the sports they are competing in. The dates of this camp align with the 2020 summer games in Tokyo adding even more excitement! 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟕-𝟑𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎-𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚: StarChild Academy campers and counselors will face off in a variety of classic game show challenges. We will play Friendly Feud, Minute to Win It, and Classic Concentration. The ultimate test of smarts will come when the campers play Are you Smarter than your Camp Counselor? Friday brings an obstacle course of all obstacle courses. It is Double Dare time and from what I remember of that one it can get messy!

𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟑-𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎-𝐒𝐩𝐲, 𝐈𝐧𝐜.: Combining the adventure of an escape room with the intrigue of being an international spy, this camp is sure to be a week you won’t forget. Campers will work together to send and decode secret messages, attempt to cross rooms filled with lasers and learn to read the body language of other ‘spies” around them. The ultimate challenge will be the fully themed and immersive escape rooms presented at the end of the week.
