The Galactic Empire

Until recently the Galactic Empire was the supreme power in the Galaxy, formed from the ashes of a failing republic and vague promises of order. However, the violently oppressive reign of it's Emperor, the Dark Lord of the Sith Sheev Palpatine, has lead to the formation of a large scale rebellion. Imperial rule is categorized by harsh laws, large scale exploitation of “lesser” races, and extreme punishments for acts considered criminal or treasonous to the regime, enforced by their massive fleet of Star Destroyers and Stormtroopers, the basic unit of the Imperial military.

The Rebel Alliance

The Rebels first formed as small groups of anti-Imperial cells independently committing small acts of resistance against their imperial overlords, but in recent times the Alliance has become a much larger and more organized fighting force. Lead by the charismatic ex-Senator Mon Mothma and a group of well renowned galactic heroes such as Generals Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, the rebellion seeks to overthrow the Imperial Order and re-establish the old Galactic Republic. The Rebel fleet is a ragtag conglomerate of light star fighters, blockade runners, old warships, converted cargo craft, and great Mon Calamari Battleships, and Rebel troops are similarly equipped in such a varying fashion.

The Hutt Cartels

The Hutt crime lords have held power in their aptly named “Hutt Space” for generations, and the Hutt Empire makes up the single largest crime syndicate the galaxy has ever seen. With strong monopolies on the spice trade, illegal weapons trafficking, the slave trade, and interplanetary smuggling, the Hutts have grown very rich and powerful, and both the Empire and the Rebellion rely on the Cartels for certain sub-legal resources and services. However, both factions have grown weary of dealing with the Cartels, and are preparing to invade Hutt Space. At the same time, the Hutt Council grows ever more ambitious, and the Cartels are laying plans of their own for a galactic conquest. With a great excess of wealth and underworld influence, the Hutts field great armies of Mercenaries, Bounty Hunters, and War droids, as well as powerful fleets of space pirates and blockade runners.

Minor Factions

The Chiss - Csilla

The Chiss are the only true allies of the Galactic Empire, a reclusive blue-skinned race of cynical humanoids who prefer to keep to themselves and are known for their extremely advanced technology and skillful spies. It is unknown exactly howthe Chiss maintain their sovereignty from the expansive Emperor Palpatine, but many assume that it involves the large amount of Chiss engineers recently employed in the Imperial Fleet Building Corps, and the influence of the Chiss mastermind Grand Admiral Thrawn within the Imperial Navy.

The Mandalorian Protectors – Concord Dawn

The Protectors are a faction of Mandalorian warriors who settled on the war-tornplanet of Concord Dawn during the height of the Old Republic. Fiercely independent and proud, the Protectors follow an ancient Mandalorian honor code, which ultimately forced their hand in allying with the Rebellion after their leader lost a duel of honor with a rebel agent. Historically, they have endured hundreds of violent conflicts on Concord Dawn, making the Protectors some of the galaxy's most elite foot soldiers.

The Confederate Enclave - Hypori

After the formation of the First Galactic Empire, and the subsequent execution ofthe Separatist high leadership on Mustafar, the remnants of Separatist Commandfled to the droid factory planet of Hypori within Hutt Space. Without the great majority of their battle-droids or their warships, the Confederate Enclave struck adeal with the Hutts – the preservation of their independence in exchange for the production of Clone Wars Era battle-droids for the Cartel leaders.
