In Our Parish

April 21, 2019– Easter Sunday

Today, Easter Sunday, we are told that the Lord has kept his word that he will save us from our sins by dying and rising to life again. End of the story? Not quite, for that is where our story begins. Each of us should be busy today doing our mission to tell and live the Easter story again and again. We were saved with much pain and at a great price. A grateful and contrite heart is our response to God, especially at Easter. Easter is about gratitude and joy. Let us live grateful lives for we have been saved. Let us also live joyful lives, for we are forgiven and loved. By His resurrection, Jesus teaches us that suffering is not the end in itself, that rightly accepted and offered, suffering is a means to find genuine happiness and fulfillment, and that death is the passage to eternal life. Let us keep on loving as the Risen Christ did. Amen.

JOIN US FOR EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AT STAR OF THE SEA ON THE 1ST THURSDAY OF EACH

MONTH FROM 8:30AM UNTIL 3:00PM The next Adoration is May 2nd, 2019

Why Eucharistic Adoration? The Catechism quotes St. Pope John Paul II: “The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease.” (CCC1380)

Every vocation in the Church comes from and through Christ Jesus. It is He who calls. Spending time in Eucharistic Adoration with our Divine Lord is a good place to go to ask what He wants with our life. Why not spend some time each month in adoration, in union, in contemplation of the Lord present in the Eucharist?

Spending time with Jesus in adoration should not strike us as unusual. It is really a very natural human activity. When two people love each other, they want to spend time together to visit, to get to know each other better. You cannot love someone you do not know. Adoration of our Lord in the Eucharist is your chance to know Jesus better.

Christ is truly and substantially present in the Eucharist – Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. Let our adoration never cease.

Please prayerfully consider joining the parish Eucharistic Adoration team – contact Dick and Sue Meeker at 757-228-7775 or [email protected]

SPONSOR OF THE WEEK

Thanks to Gary’s Painting & Wallpaper, for sponsoring our bulletin this weekend.

A Closing Prayer for Our Lenten Journey Loving God, You call us to be good stewards of creation and of all the gifts you have blessed us with. As we end our Lenten journey, walking with our brothers and sisters around the world who are hungry and in need, we pray that these, our Lenten sacri-fices, may be an offering of solidarity and a promise of continued work on behalf of all poor and vulnerable people. As good stew-ards of your many gifts, may we always remember to love our neighbors as ourselves. And wherever we feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty or clothe the naked, may we remember that we are encountering the risen Christ. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
