Dear Mark,

 The protocols look very professional and correct. If you were just focusing exclusively on the veins and did not want to include the standard sequences for imaging the brain for MS, you could pare down the overall number of sequences, but most institutions don’t charge that way. They bill by the body part, so the actual number of individual sequences protocoled by the radiologist don’t factor into the overall charge. That being said, you could remove #6, 7, and 8 (keeping 4 and 5) which really are for evaluating the brain not veins.

The other billing subtlety you should be aware of is this type of scan could be construed as a HEAD and NECK as opposed to HEAD/NECK. Like I said, most all centers bill by body part and it is important to know that they are not billing separately for two body parts to fulfill this protocol. Yes, this will only cover the 1.5 T machines, nothing higher strength.
