Conference InformationSTATEMENT OF NEEDThe 2017 Stanford 25 Bedside Medicine Symposium is an annual event which brings together medical educators from around the world to foster clinical teaching skills. We aim to build a sense of community among all those who attend and to increase both individual physical examination skills as well as the ability of those in attendance to teach and evaluate the clinical skills of their learners. We accomplish this with lectures by expert clinicians, live demonstrations and hands on workshops using both real and standardized patients. The content is aimed at early and mid-career physician educators, but would also be appropriate for chief residents and senior residents looking for a career in medical education. This year we are excited to offer CME credit as well as a poster session for attendees to present research and clinical cases that are related to bedside medicine and physical examination.

TARGET AUDIENCEThis is a global program, designed for physician and nursing educators from all specialties.

LEARNING OBJECTIVESAt the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

• Develop strategies to effectively teach your students how to conduct a physical exam at the bedside

• Demonstrate improved physical exam skills• Apply the 5 Minute Bedside Moment in practice• Adopt an approach for effectively teaching more advanced learners in a large

group classroom model• Develop effective bedside teaching strategies designed to improve the

learners’ ability to make accurate and timely diagnosis at the bedside• Develop and implement a trainee evaluation tool based on the UK MRCP

examination called Practical Assessment of Clinical Examination Skills (PACES)
