DESIGN FEATURES

Design Features

Horizontal centrifugal, single Stage pump. Spiral volute casing.Overhung on shaft impeller. Grease or oil lubricated antifriction bearing.All models have axial inlet, while the discharge nozzle is in top vertical position. Dimensions and hidraulic performances are in conformity with DIN 24.255.

Impeller

The standard SO pump is normally equipped with a closed single inlet impeller and helicoidalpropeller blade. All impeller types are provided with casing wear rings on both side and hydraulic balancing bores.

Shaft seal

Sealing of the shaft is possible either by means of a stuffing box packing or by means of a mechanical seal.For operation in the range of 100ºC to 140ºC, the SO pump packing is provided with a cooling chamber, to connect a cooling water feed pipe.

Coupling

In standard set up, the SO pump is normally equipped with flexible, two parts couplings in cast iron, with interchangeable perbunan rubber plugs. On request the pumps can be equipped with three-parts flexible coupling with scaper.With this arragement the impeller can be removed from the casing without removal of either the motor or the inlet and discharge piping system.

Bearings

The pump shaft is placed on two antifriction grease lubricated ball bearings. On request oil lubricated bearings can be supplied.An important feature of construction is the use of fixed bearings so that the remainig axial thrust is always absorbed by the bearing on the coupling side, thus protecting the pump side bearing from axial pressure.

Drive and direction of rotation

The drive can be effected alternatively by means of an electric motor, type B3 to IEC standard dimensions, a turbine or an internal combustion engine.Other drive types can be supplied on request.In standard pumps the rotating direction is clockwise on shaft end.

Fields of application

Normal SO pumps are designed to handle clean or slightly contaminated, non corrosive liquids.Therefore SO pumps are preferably applied for irrigation and drainage systems, for water and oil circulation in heating systems, for hot water supply to large buildings, for cleaning and washing plants, and as fire fighting pump.

Max.working pressure (inlet + discharge) p = 10 Kg/cm2

Max.testing pressure p = 15 Kg/cm2

For reference, in the figure above is shown a complete set of performance curves, corresponding to SO 150/135 pump type at 1.475 r.p.m. for different impeller diameters.On application the complete performance curves for any SO pump size can be obtained from HIDROTECAR.
