Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) GREEN WARRIORS (ECO CLUB) Eco Clubs play an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future generation. In our college we have an eco-club ‘known as ‘ANNITES THE GREEN WARRIORS’, which plays an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future generation and performs activities to save the environment, like planting trees, organizing poster, competitions on various environmental issues. GREEN WARRIORS is a voluntary group which promotes the participation of students in learning about, and improving their environment a means by which students and youth can organize themselves to learn more and this issue, and also take action to improve their immediate environment. Objectives of GREEN WARRIORS (Eco Club):- To educate the students about their environment. To create a clean and green consciousness among students through various innovative methods. To mobilize students towards scientific enquiry into environmental problem. To involve them in efforts to preserve environment. To motivate students how to imbibe habits and life style for minimum waste generation. Procedure: Organization Formation & Operation - 1. Procedure:

Organization Formation & Operation -

1. Announcements - Faculty coordinator should submit proposal to the Principal and IQAC for Approval of club for the academic year.

2. Nominations: The nominations are taken from fellow class mates and seniors in mid July.

This is the best time to encourage students to sign up for your club. Clubs may sign up members at any time while they are active.

Faculty Coordinator: The club moderator shall be involved in the scheduling (times, locations, etc.) of club meetings, Club coordinators are to submit the tentative plan of event, date, and budget to the faculty coordinator. Faculty Coordinator then presents the proposal to the Principal and IQAC. Coordinators must also be present at all official club meetings, events, activities, etc

Meetings: Club volunteers are required to meet at least one (1) time per month and are to the and as the requirements of conducting the activities/events.

Volunteer Coordinator/President:

a. Shall create a form for Members to indicate interest in those committee(s) they would like to serve on. b. Shall select volunteers for events/activities and make the names available to Committee chairs. c. Shall maintain the Club’s inventories d. Shall be responsible for taking of attendance during the activities.

The activities include: 1. Motivate the students to keep their surroundings green and clean by undertaking plantation of trees. 2. Promote ethos of conservation of water by minimizing the use of water. 3. Motivate students to imbibe habits and life style for minimum waste generation, source separation of waste and disposing the waste to the nearest storage point. 4. Educate students to create awareness amongst public and sanitary workers, so as to stop the indiscriminate burning of waste which causes respiratory diseases. 5. Sensitize the students to minimize the use of plastic bags, not to throw them in public places as they choke drains and sewers, cause water logging and provide breeding ground for mosquitoes. 6. Organize tree plantation programmes, awareness programmes such as Quiz, essay, painting competitions, rallies, etc. regarding various environmental issues and educate children about re-use of waste material & preparation of products out of waste. 7. Organize Nature Trail in Wild Life Sanctuaries/Parks/Forest areas to know about the Biodiversity Green Warrior club can thus help to extend boundaries and scope of the formal educational system encouraging creativity, and improving students for constructive action. St Anne’s First Grade College for Women focuses on engendering a culture of conservation into the minds of students. As an outcome of this thought process, the college instituted the Eco-club known as ‘ANNITES: THE GREEN WARRIORS’. The club plays an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the students and performs activities to conserve and protect the environment, like planting trees, organizing poster competitions, initiating waste management techniques on campus, creating awareness on practices that have harmful effects on our environment. The Club promotes the participation of students in activities that promote environmental protection and conservation and thereby aiding to sustainable development.

Objectives:

To educate the students about their environment. To initiate students to keep their environment clean.

To mobilize students towards scientific enquiry into environmental issues.

To sensitise students to make efforts to preserve the environment. To create awareness about environmental issues.

The activities included to achieve the objectives: 1. Motivate students to undertake plantation of saplings. 2. Promote ethos of conservation of water by minimizing the use of water. 3. Motivate students to imbibe habits and life style about waste segregation and

management. 4. Educate students to create awareness amongst public and sanitary workers, so as to

It also teaches skills to help individuals and social groups to identify and solve environmental problems and offer solutions to protect and conserve our nature and environment in the best way possible.

ECO DAY REPORT-2015

St Anne’s First Grade College for Women inaugurated the Green Warriors Club at D12 on

5th June 2015 .Eco clubs play an important role in creating environmental awareness

amongst the future generation. The Principal and Vice Principal along with Green warrior

coordinators Mrs.Nabilah and Mrs.Archana and faculties from various departments along

with studentsattended this programme. The day bloomed with the invocation followed by

lighting the candle by the dignitaries. There was a pledge taken by the Green warrior

members to protect our mother earth in all the possible ways for giving a much cleaner,

greener and safer environment. The main objective of introducing this club was to bring

awareness among the students to save environment and making them more responsible

citizens. Finally, the programme ended with the vote of thanks by the student President of

Green Warriors Club.

VISIT TO TABALINGESWARA TEMPLE REPORT-2015

Green Warriors Club of St Anne’s First Grade College for Women and the volunteers visited

along with NSS volunteers visited the Tabalingeswara Temple, Hoskote. There is a belief that

this temple was constructed by a king who ruled the place. This temple is more than 50 years

old and the students enjoyed the story told by the village Pandit. The students

involvedthemselves in cleaning the temple premises and spread awareness to the people in

the temple about the importance of cleanliness and help build a cleaner and greener

environment.

The Green Warriors club of St Anne’s First Grade College for Women in collaboration with

BPAC organised Swachhta waste management segregation on 16th January 2016 with the

guidance of Green warrior coordinators Mrs Nabila and Mrs Archana. Waste management are

the activities and actions which were conducted to manage waste from its inception to its

final disposal.Waste segregation was conducted to provide awarenesson dividing waste into

dry and wet. And the members of Green warriors along with BPAC members went in and

aroundVasanthnagar area to enhance the understanding and awareness on waste management

and segregation to the general public.It also acted as an interaction session of the students

with the general public. The outcome of the activity was to protect the environment for the

health and safety of the population by the Green Warriors club.

REDUCE,REUSE,RECYCLE (R3)

“REDUCE : key part of waste reduction is conservation.

REUSE : Reusing materials instead of throwing them away.

RECYCLE : Don’t throw away anything that can be recycled”

REDUCE, REUSE,RECYCLE (3R), was organised by the members of Green warriors to

reduce plastic. Green Warriors club organized is an awareness program in St Anne’s First

Grade College for Women with the guidance of Green warrior coordinators Mrs Nabilah and

Mrs Archana for high lightening the importance of 3R(REDUCE,REUSE,RECYCLE).The

students were given a talk on Recycling things each and every day, instead of throwing paper

and plastic away .Waste production cannot be eliminated entirely, but everyone can make a

significant contribution. This awareness is a stepping stone by the students towards waste

management in an efficient and effective way for the Growing economy.
