2013 - present Smoking Cessation in the Fracture Clinic protocol 20130239-01H, The overall objective of

this study is to assess the effectiveness of introducing The Ottawa Model for Smoking

Cessation to the current standard of care within the setting of The Ottawa Hospital’s Fracture

Clinic at the Civic Campus. The Ottawa Model has been successfully implemented within

multiple inpatient and outpatient settings at The Ottawa Hospital in addition to 144 settings

across Canada. The primary objective of the study will be to compare 12-month cessation

rates pre- and post-implementation of the Ottawa Model. Secondary objectives include

evaluation of effects on short-term (3- and 6-month) cessation rates, SF36v2 Functional

Health Questionnaire scores, and rates of orthopaedic complications, defined as non unions,

delayed unions, infection, and revision surgical interventions.

2015 Nanobiotix, A multicentre randomized open label phase II/III study, to compare the efficacy

of NBTXR3, implanted as an intra tumour injection and activated by radiotherapy, versus

radiotherapy alone in patient with locally advanced soft tissue sarcoma of the exrtemity and

trunk wall.

Valerie’s Flutter Foundation, a recognized charitable organizations to fund and promote

research on the field of sarcoma and musculoskeletal oncology. The foundation is in honour

of Valerie Goneau, whose creative vision was to leave a legacy prior to succumbing to pelvic

osteosarcoma at the age of 19. October 2011 marked the inaugural fundraising event.

2011 - present I am currently a Royal College Examiner and am charged with development of the

musculoskeletal oncology section for the Royal College examination.

2011 - 2014 Vice Chair for the Subspecialty Committee in Orthopaedic Surgery and am a nucleus member

charged with review and recommendation on program accreditation in Orthopaedic Surgery.

2008 - present Since 2008 I have been he program director for the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program

at the University of Ottawa. Along with a committed faculty and resident body we received

a very strong and successful accreditation review in 2010 and are well positioned for

successful accreditation in 2016. We have become a program of choice for orthopaedic

training and are viewed favorably among CARMS candidates. In these challenging times

for job opportunities we continue fill our CARMS positions with top tier candidates and I am

proud to say that our graduates continue to be recruited at a high rate to both academic and

community positions. The condensed orthopaedic boot camp (Ottawa Orthopaedic

Orientation) has been a model for early resident integration, accelerated competencies, and

patient safety and has been adopted as a model at several other Canadian Universities.

2002 - present Since 2002 I have developed a strong multidisciplinary sarcoma program at The Ottawa

Hospital. I have been involved extensively with Cancer Care Ontario with the consolidation

of Sarcoma Services across Ontario and the submission of the Ottawa Hospital Sarcoma

Services Plan. Cancer Care Ontario has designated The Ottawa Hospital as one of three

sarcoma centers of excellence in Ontario. We will continue to drive this program forward as

a center of excellence and strive to further develop quality-reporting metrics. I am an active

member of Cancer Care Ontario’s Sarcoma Service Steering Committee as well as the

Sarcoma Data Management Working Group and the Sarcoma Disease Pathway Management

Group, which reports to the Sarcoma Steering committee. I as well am an active member to

the Cancer Care Ontario’s Program in Evidence Based Care for sarcoma guideline

development.
