Results

– More than 550.000 entitlements

– 360.000 course participants attending a course – 200.000 participants completed the course – 50% reached competence level B1 (CEF)

– 2/3 of participants are women – 2/3 of participants attend the course voluntarily

Survey 2007 / 2008 courses with 3960 participants

– 80% of participants wanted to improve their competence of the German language

– 77% hoped to get better access to the labour market

– 70% considered the learning rate absolutely

right

– 78% were highly satisfied with the course – 2,5% didn't like the course at all

– 1.900 approved organisations – 6.000 locations

– 1/3 publicly funded adult education centres (Volkshochschulen)

– Offer nearly 50% of all courses – Teaching staff either highly qualified (2/3)

or attending a specially-developed skill building programme (1/3)

Pedagogical improvements

– Tailor-made course concepts(e.g. for illiterates)
