After the Germans seized Mamayev Kurgan heights they turned their attention toward the no. 1 Railroad station. Nearby the station there was the NKVD HQ and the Grain Silo. Behind the station there were land spots where where reinforcements would be landed from the other side of the Volga. The men tasked with defending this were men from the 62nd army. After the opening day of the battle with his army split in two General Vasily Chuikov sent a plea of help to the 13th Guards Division commanded by Major-General Rodmitstev. The 13th division had to fight its way all the way from the landing spot to the rail road station. The fighting around the station was extremely bloody, it changed hand 15 times before the German 71st division finally secured it on September 19th 1942. The Soviet 13th Guards Division started out with 10,000 men but after the battle was over they only could manage to bring up 2,700 men in fighting form. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history. Special Rules The German special forces tank units are Sturmgeschutz III assault guns. they have three figures and fire at 4,3,3. Their Maximum dice reduction is 1 in close assault thanks to their massive gun. Against the Sturmgeschutz III Assault Gun a star is a hit in a close assault as it is open turreted see sniper rules in eastern front expansion for details about them. Germans have a bf 109 in the air see air pack for details for special forces see memoir 44 and eastern front Russian Command rules in effect.
