STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT OF JALSWARAJYA PROJECTINTRODUCTIONThe Government of Maharashtra took major policy decision in July 2000 to adopt demand driven and participatory approaches to rural Water supply and sanitation. Maharashtra is the first State in the country to launch major initiative of a State wide policy for reforming the rural Water supply and sanitation.This concept of Jalswarajya depends on Ideal village of Mahatma Gandhi. The Project has been designed using participatory methodologies involving to a great extent the primary stakeholders. The users and beneficiaries are a pilot initiative in 30 village panchayatas in 3 district of the State level.

OBJECTIVEJalswarajya a project started with the prime objective of increasing the access of households to improve and sustainable drinking water and sanitation services and to institutionalize and decentralization or rural water supply and sanitation service delivery to rural local governments and communities.STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENTStakeholders are defined as anyone who could or should have an interest in what you are trying to achieve. They are individuals, groups or organisations who stand to lose or win as a result of your success or failure .The different stakeholders in this project are, Beneficiary Households Women BPL, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other Marginalized sections. VWSC/BLSC/Sub-committee Gram Sabha Village Panchayats Zilla Parishad Government of Maharashtra

The project will support Government of Maharashtra's path breaking reform initiatives in the water supply and sanitation sector and its scaling up throughout thestate. The project has been designed using participatory methodologies involving to a great extent the primary stakeholders .At village level, GramSabha is vested with all powers of decision-making. A Village water supply and sanitation committee constituted by the GramSabha as a committee of the village panchayat execute project activities. The estimated cost of project is 13955.25 crores. The capacity building and infrastructure support under the project will cover 2800 VPS in 26 districts. The project will be implemented in three successive batches of VPS and tribal self.
