Staircase handrails usually are not considered to be a great navigation, however, if weuse BrailleStaircase Handrail , it would be really handy for visually impaired and blindpeople. The system can be integrated easily with common staircase handrail, thusproviding great navigation information to assist visually impaired without changing theirexperience of those with other people.

This Braille communication system provides information about different floors andtenants, it also informs about how many stairs left. Using cylinders to compose theBraille, they are installed onto holes on the rail

The buildingincludes a fully compliant tactile paving system with clearly articulated pathwaysspecifically designed for people who are blind or vision impaired.The Centre was designed in consultation with clients, wayfinding experts and specialistaccess consultant architects.The following universal design principles shape The Perron Centre's design:

Size and space for approach of use - appropriate size and space is provided forapproach, reach, manipulation, and use regardless of user's body size, posture ormobility.

Entrance to BuildingThe building has a distinctive shape to make its entrance recognisable and easy toaccess. The shape of the building provides a shoreline' for people who are visionimpairment travel from the Victoria Park railway station to the building's entrance.Different floor textures indicate entrances, and doors and frames have good luminancecontrast. Tactile paving markers indicate verges and potential danger points, as well asthe direction of travel to the front entrance.

Way finding

Way finding is the process of navigating from one place to another. People who arevision impaired make use of all sensory information that's available to them to helpnavigate in an environment. This includes residual vision, touch, smell, sound,

temperature and air movement.Our centre has differing floor textures, colour contrasting and appropriate signage andlighting to enhance access for people who are vision impaired.
