Stage 6 PDHPE Year 11 and 12 PDHPE students are continuing to work on completing their courses but also study for important upcoming examinations.

After completing research into the range of fitness options available, Year 11 students are now engaged in the First Aid option. This involves the investigation and practical application of the major assessment and management techniques for the types of injury and medical conditions that require first aid.

As Australia’s population clicks over 25 million people tomorrow, Year 12 PDHPE students are focusing on the measures of epidemiology, groups experiencing health inequalities, illness, disease and the impact an ageing population will have on the Australian health care system. A Message from the Principal

Education Week! Today’s schools creating tomorrow’s world.

We are very proud to be a public school in NSW and this week we celebrate our achievements in collaboratively creating wonderful citizens with families and our Yeoval community. I hope you enjoyed the assembly this morning, our Captains led well and I must give special mention to Caleb and Destiny for their efforts in interviewing and compiling the video ‘What will education look like for your children in the future?’. We were entertained by fabulous performances from our 3/4 class and the drummers and choir. I thank Ms Amanda Crain/Mrs Lacinda Christie and Mrs Helen Johnson for preparing the students so well.

Well done to our Western Area Athletics competitors – Dominic, Jorja, Paul, Claire, Lucy, Willa and Ailee. Congratulations to Ailee Tremain who qualified for the State Athletics in 400m! We thank Mrs Sarah Lindsay from Tottenham CS for her organisation of the carnival, Mrs Elaine Bates and Mrs Katrina Corinth who assisted on the day, and all our parent drivers.

On Tuesday the Cabonne Councillors visited our school. They learnt about the wonderful opportunities our students have and were treated to fresh cappuccinos made by Ms Natasha Freeth and Year 11 Hospitality students. They observed some lessons and saw the great facilities we have. It was an opportune time for them to visit as it coincided with our FYI exhibition. Mrs Debbie Blatch and Ms Gemma Loud’s Years 7/8 project group displayed an outstanding Travel Expo! Students presented their group work task of a holiday destination and did an excellent job selling their product to us. I have been so impressed with the dedication of all FYI teachers and our leaders. Our families have supported all exhibitions and our students are always engaged in their learning. We are analysing our successes of 2018 to plan well for 2019 and will utilise parent/caregiver and student feedback in our decision making for all classes in 2019.

I thank Mr Capell (Trundle CS) and Mr Grubb (Peak Hill CS) who coordinated Yr 12 Mathematics and Yr 11 Investigating Science study days last week. I appreciate Mrs Bates for transporting the students.

Congratulations to our primary students, teachers and support staff for the amazing efforts at the Wellington Eisteddfod. K/1/2 placed 3rd, Years 3/4 placed 1st and Years 5/6 also placed 1st.

I am sure you agree with me on how good our new anoraks look! I would like to thank Blake Cameron for leading the way with the idea and design. Mrs Jacqui Morris from your P&C spent much of her time researching suppliers. We will ask for expressions of interest again in Term 1 2019 for another order.

This week we celebrate Education Week! Keep an eye on our Facebook page and I Iook forward to showing you more in next week’s newsletter.

Changes to School Uniform Policy

July 2018

Attention parents and carers: Changes to School Uniform Policy and associated guidelines The NSW Department of Education has revised the School Uniform Policy and associated guidelines following an extensive review and consultation process, including with the NSW Parents and Citizens Association. The revised School Uniform Policy requirements include that: all students have the opportunity to access the full range of school activities, including physical activities

while wearing a school uniform girls must have the option to wear shorts and pants consideration is given to cost and how to assist families, including for schools to inform parents how they

can access financial support to purchase school uniform items. The revised School Uniform Policy and associated guidelines can be found at the link: School Uniform Policy. Where changes are required to a school’s uniform, there must be formal consultation with students, teachers and other staff, parents or carers, and the school community (including the Parents and Citizens' Association). Parents and carers should be given up to 3 years to comply with any changes. Optional Information: Our school expects students to wear their uniform during school hours, while travelling to and from school and when engaged in school activities out of school hours. The P&C will be reviewing the revised School Uniform Policy and associated guidelines at a P&C meeting in 2019, 5 years after the introduction of the current uniform. We hope that you can support our school in ensuring we meet the requirements of the revised School Uniform Policy. When all students wear our school uniform their personal safety is enhanced and a sense of belonging to our school community is created. A positive school identity is also promoted in our local community. For queries contact us on 02 6846 4004.
