Thank you… “Dear Rev. Kenny, We received a check today from the Propagation of the Faith for $5,314.50 that was the result of the generosity of the parishioners at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NV. We are most grateful to you and your parishioners for being part of this generous gift. Please relay our message of gratitude. It was a pleasure for Sister Kelly and Sister Alice to share Sister of Charity of Nazareth stories with your Parish Family. Because of our partnership with your Parish, we can better assist those in need. Know that the Holy Spirit Catholic Parish Family will be remembered as our staff gathers daily at 1:00 p.m. to pray for those who share so generously with those where we minister. Gratefully, Sister Anne Magruder, SCN MCP Coordinator”

As I announced last weekend at all the Masses, the response to the Feasibility Study surveys was tremendous! I am told that we may have set a record for the number of responses received! Thanks, again, to all of you who took the time to fill out a survey. Your input will have been valuable for making the Final Report; we will have had

presented to our Staff, the Finance Council and the Capital Campaign Committee that Final Report of the Feasibility Study on Wednesday, October 7. This will have been given by two representatives of the Steier Group: Joseph Raia, Senior Campaign Manager (who has spent three days each week in our trailer offices for the past five weeks — working and doing interviews) and Sean McMahon, President of Client Services. But since the deadline for this bulletin is Monday before the weekend of the bulletin’s distribution, I was not able to publish the results. A FULL REPORT will be printed in my column next week. When I was so aggressive in getting those surveys into your hands at all the Masses on the weekend of September 26/27, I realized that there is help needed in a very important ministry here at Holy Spirit: HOSPITALITY. First of all, a big thank you to all those women and men who are already doing HOSPITALITY at one of the weekend Masses! Your work is greatly appreciated! But as our parish continues to grow and some Masses getting fuller and fuller, I want to get some more volunteers to help you out. Actually, I see HOSPITALITY in three areas (each of which could have at least two different persons): 1) HOSPITALITY GREETERS: these are the persons who greet people as they walk in one of the two entrances of Tiberti Commons (the Gorman cafeteria). You may be the very first impression that visitors and perspective new parishioners receive as they come to worship with us at Holy Spirit. You are asked to arrive about 30 minutes before Mass to be ready to greet those who arrive early and, at times, to be given special instructions for some extra work (like passing out surveys). You are also asked to be at the same doorways to pass out bulletins (or, at times, other items) as people leave; and to wish them good bye! 2) HOSPITALITY USHERS: these are the persons who direct people to their seats and to the appropriate Communion Station. You should arrive about 15 minutes before Mass to assist the Greeters in the last minute rush. 3) HOSPITALITY SERVERS: these are the persons who serve coffee, Tang (drink of the Astronauts!) and doughnuts at the end of Mass. You should also arrive at least 15 minutes before Mass to make sure that the table is set up with all the food, drink and supplies. Normally, you need to stay about 20—30 minutes after Mass. Thus, YOU are very important: the parish HUGS — Hospitality Ushers, Greeters and Servers! There will be sign-up sheets next week!. Thanks for your consideration of this very important ministry. We need HUGS!

Over this past summer, I returned to the beautiful and inspirational place called Sophie's Place. It is home to many young girls and boys with severe physical and mental disabilities. All but three are immobile and need to be force fed. Though it may sound sad and heartbreaking, this place is actually one of my favorites. Everyone there is inviting and friendly. I loved seeing the old faces from my first year and meeting the new ones with a smile and an open heart. When we arrived, we were asked a question to reflect upon during our trip. The question asked if we were the angel to these kids or if they were the Angels to us? After contemplating this question for a full week, I decided that these kids were our angels, or at least mine. Every time I see the smile on one of their little faces my heart lights up with joy and they are the reason I keep returning.

This year I returned to find that the little boy I had connected with last year was growing up. Little Raheem had moved from being put in the girls house because of his little size to being put in with the young boys. He was gaining weight and eating a lot better then last year. Every second I spent with him the more I never wanted to leave. This young boy was my angel. Upon my departure, I made myself a small promise that I intend to keep. I promised

myself that I would do the same kind of work I did there and bring it back home. I would volunteer more and try to be involved in all the help I can be. I also promised to work and get into a good rhythm with my faith just as the beautiful and wonderful aunties demonstrated for us through their hope for the kids. I will never forget my inspirational experience and I hope to return in the future. Tori Lambert
