It is the responsibility of any government to protect its people and wealth from potential economic or social risks. In his historic speech to the world at the UN General Assembly, HH the Emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, rightfully said that the current crisis was nothing but ’''a blessing in disguise’''.

Over the past few months, the Government of the State of Qatar has, under the wise leadership of HH the Emir, has set a new standard in crisis management. It has demonstrated to the whole world the sophisticated structure and advanced system by which it runs its institutions, and through which it alleviated the effect of the blockade. The readiness and diligence of the system has, in no time, reflected positively on the everyday life of nationals and expats alike, and particularly on investors.

It is during such trying times that partnerships between the government and business sectors prove to be an absolute necessity and a national obligation. Such partnerships help reinforce the concepts of business continuity, diligence and crisis management, and shed light on international criteria that measure the efficiency of these sectors and their readiness to confront and overcome any potential dangers.

Nevertheless, partnership and coordination need to go in parallel with continuous and relentless analysis of internal and external conditions and of the economic, social and political developments influencing investment at all levels.

The Business Continuity Conference, organized by the Business Continuity Institute-Qatar Forum, a pioneer in the field, should give all stakeholders the chance to present the most successful and effective business continuity models they are adopting to alleviate the economic and social impact of this current crisis. Recommended mechanisms and approaches reached during this important event should be thoroughly reviewed and appropriately applied to drive our nation slowly, but surely towards the future.

Regards,Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-SadaMinister of Energy and IndustryState of Qatar

Foreword by H.E. Minister of Energy and Industry

Moreover, such partnership will guarantee continuity in delivery and achievement required to conform with state directions’.
