MEMORIES AND DREAMS
Throughout our lives, we retain the lan-guage and habits of our native region and family of origin. Should we return to our home after a long absence, we quickly revert to its familiar speech and practices. Our deep memory is reflected in old stories and words and speech patterns. This famili-arity runs like an underground river and accompa-nies us wherever we go. Not only do we remember, we are incorpo-rated into and made part of a greater memory. In remembering and recollecting, we are in turn gath-ered up and re-collected. Today we remember Mary, a small figure travelling the country roads to visit Elizabeth. All the great pronouncements and dreams of the prophets point to this time when the Lord’s words to Mary would be gathered and fulfilled. The mem-ories of her people are alive in her, and memories of her nourish our own living faith.

PASTOR’S MESSAGE
Scams and Fraudulent Activity in Napa
This weekend we see the Virgin Mary traveling. She is a great model for all of us about to always follow the will of God. Her traveling can be seen as our own spiritual journey during this time of Advent: converting our lives more to God and His Church. Also, the first reading reminds us of the spiritual birth of Jesus Christ. I hope that all us may continue to convert our lives so that during this time the spiritual birth of our Lord may continue to transform all of our lives so that we may be able to share in the joy, happiness and grace of God. Also, I wan to thank you to eve-ryone who helped with the decoration of the church and the poinsettias that were donated to decorate our church. May God bless all of you and our parish of St. Thomas. On behalf of Fr. Gary, Rev. Mr. Jim, Rev. Mr. Jesse, myself and everyone at St. Thomas, we wish all you a Merry Christmas! Fr. Abel
Please be careful not to be a vic-tim of a scam. We were notified that some people in Napa have
already lost money because of fraudulent and threatening emails or other forms of communi-cation. Be careful not to fall prey to requests or demands for personal information or money supposedly from or for our parish. We encourage everyone to always check with us and/or report anything questionable to the local police.

P. Abel

Gospel: Lk 1:39-45
R. Alleluia, alleluia. Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your
word. R. Alleluia, alleluia.
R. Aleluya, aleluya. Yo soy la esclava del Señor;
R. Aleluya.
Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zecha-riah and greeted Elizabeth. When Eliz-abeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the moth-er of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spo-ken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."
