FEET ON THE GROUND “Until next week, keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars!” Not today’s scriptural wisdom, but legendary DJ Casey Kasem’s sage ad-vice, heard across America for generations, Ameri-can Top 40’s challenging sign-off. Though Casey wasn’t quoting scripture, today’s Acts of the Apos-tles offers similar advice. As Jesus ascended, disci-ples “were looking intently at the sky.” Wouldn’t we prefer a soul-relaxing gaze into peaceful blue skies to a heart-breaking focus on this blood-stained earth? But heavenly questioners asked Jesus’ first disciples, “Why are you standing there looking at the sky?” Earth awaited their mission! While our hearts should “keep reaching for” heaven, we need to “keep our feet on the ground.” Ascension’s scrip-tures and the Jubilee of Mercy remind us: the Jesus we revere as “ascended into heaven” lives right here among us on earth, awaiting our recognition and loving service.

BIRTHFIGHT
St. Thomas is preparing food for the “Table” at the Presbyterian Church every third Thursday of each month. We hope you will use the sign-up sheet so we know what food you bring and who the volun-teer helpers will be on that Thursday. We need potatoes, carrots, ham, green beans, and milk. The sign-up sheet for the food is on the “Table” board and a half barrel marked “Table” under-neath where you can put food the Sunday before. This is on the NW corner of the Social Hall.

BBQ Chicken Fundraiser—St. Thomas
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday, June 7, the First Friday of the month, from 9am to 10pm. Mass is celebrated at 12pm. Please come and join us for Adoration on this First Friday. We need people to sign up for an hour of adoration during the 13 hours. The sign-up sheet is on the parish bulletin board in the church hall. Please consider signing up for an hour to ensure we have every hour covered, and hopefully by more than just one person per hour.
BLESSED SACRAMENT ADORATION
This weekend we celebrate the Ascension of Jesus Christ. It is a day of obligation that falls forty days after celebrating the Easter Vigil or Easter Sunday. In many dioceses of the Unites States, this day of holy obligation has been transferred to the Sunday that is closest to the Thursday, which is the actual day of the feast. This feast day gives all of us hope and encouragement in our spiritual journey to God and attain our ultimate goal: be in the presence of God forever. Let us continue to do our best in our daily lives to pray and do the best that we can to live a life of holiness as we continue in our journey to be in the presence of God forever. May God continue to bless all of you an our parish of St. Thomas, Fr. Abel
October 7th we will be selling 3lbs. Smoked chicken with rice and beans for $20 as a fund-raiser for our parish. Thank you for supporting our parish with this fundraiser.
Staring June 3th The parish office will be resuming her regular office hours from 9 am to 5 pm. Monday thru Friday.

ANUNCIOS DE LA PARROQUIA
En la Iglesia de Santo Tomás tenemos la Adoración del Santísimo Sacramento el viernes 7 de junio de 9am a 10pm. El Santísimo Sacramento estará expuesto en la custodia en el altar para Adoración y oración hasta las 10pm y la misa se cele-brará a las 12pm en Ingles. Por favor ven-ga y acompáñenos para la Adoración en este primer viernes. Invitamos que perso-
nas se registren para una Hora Santa. La hoja de inscrip-ción está en el tablero de anuncios en el salón de la igle-sia. Considere inscribirse durante una hora para asegu-rarse de que tengamos por lo menos un adorador por hora, y si es posible más de una persona por hora.
Este fin de semana celebramos la Ascensión de Jesucristo. Es un día de obligación que cae cuarenta días después de celebrar la Vigilia Pascual o el Domingo de Pascua. En muchas diócesis de los Esta-dos Unidos, este día santo de obligación se transfirió al domingo más cercano al jueves, que es el día real de la fiesta. Este día de fiesta nos da a todos esperanza y aliento en nuestro viaje espiritual a Dios y nos ayuda a alcanzar nuestro objetivo final: estar en la presencia de Dios para siempre. Continue-mos haciendo nuestro mejor esfuerzo en nuestra vida diaria para orar y hacer lo mejor que podamos para vivir una vida de santidad mientras continuamos en nuestro viaje para estar en la presencia de Dios para siempre. Santo Tomás prepara comida para la "Mesa" en la Iglesia Presbiteriana cada tercer jueves de ca-da mes. Esperamos que nos puedan ayudar con ingredientes que utilizamos para preparar estos alimentos. Utilice la hoja de registro apuntar lo que usted puede traer. Se necesita jamón, papas, zanahorias, leche, naranjas y ejotes enlatados. La hoja de inscripción para la comida se encuen-tra en el tablero y un medio barril marcado "Table" debajo donde se puede colocar la comida el domingo anterior.

Ellos, después de adorarlo, regresaron a Jerusalén, lle-nos de gozo, y permanecían constantemente en el templo, alabando a Dios.
