The People of our Parish
The New Life in Christ
The baptism of Jesus Christ in
the River Jordan is significant
to the history of our salvation.
The voice from heaven con-
firmed that He is the beloved
Son of God. The Holy Spirit,
resting on his head in the form
of a dove, is an expression of
the unbroken unity of the triune
God at the beginning of the
earthly ministry of Jesus. Jesus
had no sin, but he humbled himself to undergo baptism, firstly
to model for us the importance of this ritual of salvation and
secondly, his immersion into the water sanctifies every baptis-
mal font making them sources of spiritual sanctification.
Through baptism we are called into divine life as brothers and
sisters of Jesus Christ. Thus, we are adopted as “beloved sons
and daughters of God.” It is the door to spiritual life, for receiv-
ing “sanctifying grace,” the grace that helps us in our spiritual
journey.
Christ’s baptism reminds us of our own baptism. Baptism with
its great promise of salvation, comes as well with the sacred
responsibility of keeping our baptismal promise, of rejecting
satan with his empty promises. It goes without saying that bap-
tism obliges on us the duty to proclaim the good news of salva-
tion to the whole world. Witness of Christian life seems to be
the most eloquent and effective way of spreading the good
news.
Each time a child is baptised here in the parish, we rejoice be-
cause of the joy that the sacred mystery of our faith is passed on
to a future generation. It is thus the responsibility of the whole
church to continue to nurture the life of grace God has given to
these new members of our faith family, so as to continue to
grow strongly. Parents are the first teachers of their children in
the way of faith, their duties are sacred and very rewarding. We
pray that the grace God gives us in baptism may ever be kindled
by the power of the Holy Spirit.—Fr. Theo

LIFE IN CHRIST SEMINAR (LCS)
As part of our parish participation in the re-evangelization within the
diocese, we are mounting a Life in Christ Seminar (LCS) in St.
Therese Parish. This is a 5-session seminar that focuses on bringing
Catholics into a vibrant relationship with Jesus and empowering them
to lead Spirit-filled lives.
The LCS is an integrated course intended to lead seminar participants
into a renewed understanding of God’s call to them as Christians. The LCS has one basic purpose: bringing participants to a personal
relationship with Jesus, and getting them started on living a truly Spir-
it-filled Christian life. It is about transformation in Christ and renewal
in the Spirit.
The LCS is divided into 5 sessions. For now, each module will be
conducted on two Saturdays each from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The
topics of the 5 sessions are as follows:
Feb 20, 2016 Talk 1 Jesus, The Messiah
Talk 2 Called to Witness
Talk 3 Repentance and Faith
Feb 27, 2016 Mini-Talk Vocal Prayers
Talk 4 The Gift of the Holy Spirit
Talk 5 Growing in the Spirit
To register: Please wr ite your name on the sign-up sheet available
at the entrance foyer. Registration is needed to plan for handouts,
grouping, lunch, and refreshments.
