St. Theresa Catholic Church
First Sunday of Lent March 5, 2017
“This is my beloved
Son, with whom
I am well pleased;
listen to him.”
These Sundays of Lent are gradually moving us through the key episodes in the story of our salvation in Christ. The highlight will be on Easter Sunday when we celebrate the glorious resurrection of the savior over death, sin and evil. Our Lenten Sunday gospels leads us through this journey. During the Lenten season Jesus tells his disciples of his imminent suffering and death. He conforms them that these events must come to pass, and anyone who follows him must also embrace the cross. The Gospel this weekend is the Transfiguration of Jesus and Jesus’s witness to it. Jesus tells his disciples not to tell anyone what they have witnessed. Jesus informs his disciples that his work and journey is ongoing and will be completed at his death and glorious resurrection. The Scriptures give us hope and encouragement there will be difficulties and challenges but we keep going and persevere. Let us travel this journey together.

do we ensure that those who are hungry have not only food but true nourishment? Visit crsricebowl.org
