Creating a taste for the Eucharist.
When someone is spending time with someone he or she loves time slips away quickly. And the more one spends time with a
person, the more one gets to know and love that person. When I first started seminary, I remember spending two or three
hours at a time in front of the blessed sacrament. My prayer time went quickly and I began to grow in knowledge and love for
Jesus in the Eucharist. Being with Jesus in the Eucharist creates within us a hunger for the invisible reality of God that is
present in the Sacramental Host. We begin to see the world differently through the eyes of Jesus. Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament is essential for those who want to grow in the love and faith in the Lord.
Archbishop Fulton Sheen was a huge advocate of Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament. He would suggest that the first
Holy Hour took place in the garden of Gethsemane by Jesus Himself. He reprimanded his disciples by saying “Could you not
stay awake with me for one hour while I was in my agony?” Time spent with Jesus in Adoration will put us directly in touch with
His suffering heart. We will be drawn from prayer into compassion for the suffering that goes on in Christ’s mystical body. The
more we spend time with Jesus the more we will hunger to learn about our faith and then put it into practice by embracing the
poor and vulnerable.
We have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in our parish throughout the week during Lent. If you don’t already have a
committed hour that you have signed up for I strongly encourage you to do so. It does not matter if there is already someone
signed up for the hour you’re interested. When it comes to adoring Jesus in the Eucharist, more is definitely the merrier.
Sincerely
Father Kurt Farrell
UNBOUND: This is a new ministry being established in our Diocese.
Unbound is an authentically Catholic approach to deliverance. For over 30 years it has helped people move into a deeper commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, to forgive those who have hurt them and to identify and renounce the lies that do not reflect the truth that we are all beloved sons and daughters of God. Those trained in the prayer process help people take back authority that was initially given to them as baptized Christians. In short, this is a form of prayer
available to the baptized, that leads many who are struggling with spiritual blocks and harassment in their lives, to greater freedom and joy in Jesus Christ. While this prayer process does not approach the level of exorcism, a liturgical rite of the Church, it does require sensitivity to the reality of spiritual warfare and the psychological challenges that present themselves in others. It requires prayer partners who are spiritually mature, deeply prayerful and participating in communion with the Church and under the authority of our Bishop. Those committed to offering this prayer have been trained over many months, with additional daily prayer, educational and spiritual formation and serve in teams led by seasoned coordinators. Bishop John Quinn welcomes and supports this ministry and individuals wishing to receive Unbound prayer can call (507)858-1274 or email [email protected] to set up a conversation.

Lent The Three Pillars of Lent - Prayer, Fasting, Almsgiving
During the Lenten Season, Catholics practice the above hallmarks of the Lenten Season as a way of putting one in
touch with the true nature of Lent. Our practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving can help us enter into this sacred
season as we walk with Jesus to Jerusalem as He enters into His passion and death. Come Easter Sunday, may we all
sing in unison - Alleluia! He is risen!

David McKay said, “True education does not exist merely in acquiring a few facts of science, history, literature, or art, but in the development of character.”
This quote is true as we embrace this thought while we work with the children at St. Theodore Elementary School. I love watching our students become kind and caring people as they move on their educational journey. We are having a Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Open House on February 25
