The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) classes have started but it’s not too late to join us!!

Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic faith? Do you struggle to answer questions about the Catholic faith from non-Catholics? Do you want to be able to better respond to fallen away Catholics? Do you know someone who might want to become Catholic? These sessions last an hour one night a week and are an excellent way to: • grow in faith; • learn more about the teachings of the faith if you are

already Catholic; • complete the process to receive the Sacraments if

you are not Catholic. Please contact Deacon Dave at 314-842-3848 (ext. 120) to register or for more information. There is no cost for this program.

Mass of Remembrance Saturday, November 2, 2019 10:00am

The liturgical year affords us the opportunity to remember those who have gone before us in death. In anticipation of this special season, our parish has set aside time for families and friends who have suffered the loss of a loved one, especially this past calendar year, to gather together to remember to heal, to celebrate and to be with others. Please join us at our annual Mass of Remembrance on Saturday, November 2nd at 10:00am at St. Simon church. Please complete the form below and return it to us by Monday, October 28th via the collection basket, parish office or email [email protected] so that we may plan the liturgy. Name_________________________________________ Phone number:_________________________________ Approximate number attending the Mass:_____________ Please print name of your deceased family member: _________________________________________

Dear Parishioners, One of the projects that was completed recently, with the help of our Parish Day of Service, was the painting of the lobby of our church building. After the painting was completed, I was approached by Dr. and Mrs. Ortmeyer about a piece of liturgical art that they wanted to donate to the parish. This particular piece of art was created by Brother Mel Meyer, a member of the Marianist community who lived and worked at Vianney High School. Brother Mel was known both locally and nationally for his work in liturgical art; his metal sculptures, watercolors, and stained glass can be seen in many churches and parks. I am very grateful to Dr. and Mrs. Ortmeyer for their donation of this special piece of art from Brother Mel Meyer – many people have commented how it seems to fit perfectly in our church lobby! I hope you take the time to view this new work of art for our parish. You may recall the large crucifix that was previously located on that wall; we hope to have it cleaned and restored, and then possibly placed in our gym, to replace the current (small) crucifix that is there now. It’s my understanding that crucifix came from our former church building, so I would like to preserve and continue to utilize it as well. Finally, I wanted to let you know that I will be away on vacation; I will be traveling with a priest-friend of mine to France and Belgium October 21st thru October 31st. Please know of my prayers for you while I am away! Have a healthy and holy week! St. Simon the Apostle pray for us! Sincerely, Fr. Brad

Parish Stewardship of Treasure :

Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the Gospel today Jesus tells his disciples to pray always without becoming weary; indeed our prayer must always be an expression of our love for God, our family, our world, and especially for the suffering poor. As you place your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box, please say a special prayer for the poor who have no one to pray for them.
