ST. ROSE CHURCH SEPTEMBER 27,2015
Someone once said that a person is bestjudged, not by what they hold onto, but bywhat they give up. We become defined by thesacrifices we make. Giving up time and laborto provide for loved ones, volunteertng tohelp others, even taking time to play with ourchildren. These noble gifts reflect the bestpart of us. But there are other sacrifices, sooften unseen, that shape us as well. The sac-rifice of not indulging in self-pity, of not ly-ing when it is easier than the truth, of notgiving in to anger no matter how real theprovocation. Each of these sacrifices, this "giving", bringsus closer to God. They tune the heartstringsof our soul to His melody, preparing us forthe communion we will experience in heaven.
~_""_ ....=> By giving up bad habits or bad~n",,~ thoughts we are not subtracting,
_}~) diminishing ourselves, we are_ ~ adding a bond of love to our re-C4JA~uJ4~ lations hip with God. Jesus said,
.... "If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better to enter the kingdomof God with one eye than with two eyes to fallto hell."Ask yourself this week, what do I need tosacrifice to be closer to God? Then let it go.It's a small price to pay for eternity with Him.++++++++++++++++++++++++
