Stewardship
Recognizing and Receiving God’s Gifts
“Stewarding our Gifts: WHO ARE YOU FOLLOWING”?
Sunday, December 3, 2017 First Sunday in Advent
Is 63:16b-17, 19b; 64: 2-7 / Cor 1: 3-9 / Mk 13: 33-37
In this week of Advent, the message is clear: be watchful and ready! When we watch for something, it is an intentional action. It is more than seeing or waiting, which are somewhat passive actions. No, watching is an intentional action in which one is ready to respond. The father of the prodigal son was watchful: ready to immediate respond to his son when he was seen at a distance. The father leaving his home to greet his son. As stewards, we too are watchful to see Jesus in the Advent season, especially in the people around us.

This week ask God to bless the labors of local volunteers who serve year-round to collect, process, transport and delivery shoebox gifts around the world, especially those parts of the world where people may be hostile toward Christians.
