As I watched: Thrones were set up and the Ancient One took his throne. His clothing was bright as snow, and the hair on his head
as white as wool; his throne was flames of fire, with wheels of burning fire. A surging stream of fire flowed out from where he sat;
Thousands upon thousands were ministering to him, and myriads upon myriads attended him. The court was convened and the
books were opened. As the visions during the night continued, I saw: One like a Son of man coming, on the clouds of heaven;
When he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, The one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and
kingship; all peoples, nations, and languages serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his
kingship shall not be destroyed.

Beloved: We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,

came to him from the majestic glory, "This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased." We ourselves heard this voice

Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother, John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before

conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, "Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then
from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." When the disciples
heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, "Rise, and do not be afraid."
And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. As they were coming down from the mountain,
Jesus charged them, "Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead."

cuando la sublime voz del Padre resonó sobre él, diciendo: "Éste es mi Hijo amado, en quien yo me complazco". Y nosotros escuchamos
esta voz, venida del cielo, mientras estábamos con el Señor en el monte santo. Tenemos también la firmísima palabra de los profetas, a la

En aquel tiempo, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, a Santiago y a Juan, el hermano de éste, y los hizo subir a solas con él a un monte
elevado. Ahí se transfiguró en su presencia: su rostro se puso resplandeciente como el sol y sus vestiduras se volvieron blancas
como la nieve. De pronto aparecieron ante ellos Moisés y Elías, conversando con Jesús. Entonces Pedro le dijo a Jesús: "Señor,
¡qué bueno sería quedarnos aquí! Si quieres, haremos aquí tres chozas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías". Cuando
aún estaba hablando, una nube luminosa los cubrió y de ella salió una voz que decía: "Éste es mi Hijo muy amado, en quien tengo
puestas mis complacencias; escúchenlo". Al oír esto, los discípulos cayeron rostro en tierra, llenos de un gran temor. Jesús se
acercó a ellos, los tocó y les dijo: "Levántense y no teman". Alzando entonces los ojos, ya no vieron a nadie más que a Jesús.

Conference room at 7:00 pm. If you have any interest in vocations you are invited to join us. We also invite anyone who is
interested in bringing vocation awareness to the parish to please, bring your ideas as we begin this new committee.
We invite you to pray for vocations within our community and at the same time we join to pray for the transitional Deacons
and seminarians. Following is a short prayer along with a seminarian’s name. Each week you will find a different name in
the bulletin. Let’s pray for them daily.
Loving and Generous God, it is You who call us by name and ask us to follow You.
Help us to grow in the Love and Service of our Church as we experience it today.
Give us the energy and courage of Your Spirit to shape its future

Dear friends,
First of all, a reminder to check the mass schedule for DAILY masses this week. With Fr. Lazo and I both gone, the schedule is very
different. Also, be aware that there will be no confessions on Wednesday. The weekend schedules are unchanged.
Next weekend, Aug. 12-13, Father Raul Perez of Cross Catholic Outreach will be visiting our parish to speak at all the Masses on behalf
of the poor in developing countries. Cross Catholic Outreach was founded to create a meaningful link between parishes in America and
the priests and nuns working in the Church overseas in the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Central and South America. I hope you will welcome
him with typical St. Pius V hospitality.
You can help the parish in a major way by setting up a “My Own Church” account, up-dating your parish registry information with your
email address, and then using on-line giving to make your Sunday offering. Your contribution will post automatically to your contribu-
tion record and save time and effort that our parish staff can devote to other parish needs. It also saves resources and makes the work of
our volunteer money counters go more quickly. On-line giving is both secure and convenient. I use it myself. (If your you get airline
reward points from your credit card, your generosity can earn rewards above the clouds as well as in heaven.)
Our money counters are among the most dedicated of our volunteers and this almost invisible ministry is incredibly important to us. If
you would be willing to join one of these teams which serve for a few hours every few weeks, please call me or Alice Layton at 713-473-

Queridos amigos,
En primer lugar, un recordatorio para comprobar el horario de las misas entre semana para la semana próxima. Mientras P. Lazo y yo

Viviendo nuestra fe… Pastoral Social Parroquial En la Transfiguración de este domingo, vemos la promesa del cambio, de algo completamente nuevo que tiene
lugar. A los tres Apóstoles se les dice que "escuchen" a Jesús. Oirán algo nuevo; Ellos serán desafiados a abrazar
algo nuevo.
Continuando nuestro estudio del libro del Papa Francisco, "Abrazando el Camino de Jesús", el capítulo 8 trata de
cómo nuestra prioridad son los pobres y cómo son el centro del Evangelio, el corazón del Evangelio. Afirma que
si quitamos a los pobres del Evangelio "no podemos entender todo el mensaje de Jesús ... esto significa (según San
Pablo) rechazar las perspectivas mundanas y ver todas las cosas de nuevo a la luz de Cristo. Significa ser el
primero en examinar nuestras conciencias, reconocer nuestros fracasos y pecados y abrazar el camino de la
conversión constante, la conversión cotidiana "(p.58).

Living Our Faith Parish Social Ministry In the Transfiguration this Sunday, we see the promise of change, of something entirely new taking place. The
three Apostles are told to “listen to” Jesus. They will hear something new; they will be challenged to embrace
something new.
Continuing our book study of Pope Francis’ book, “Embracing the Way of Jesus”, Chapter 8 deals with how our
priority are the poor and how they are the center of the Gospel, the heart of the Gospel. He states that if we take
away the poor from the Gospel, “we can’t understand the whole message of Jesus… this means (according to St.
Paul) rejecting worldly perspectives and seeing all things anew in the light of Christ. It means being the first to
examine our consciences, to acknowledge our failings and sins, and to embrace the path of constant conversion,
everyday conversion” (p.58).
