What do you do on a warm sum-

mer night in Southeast Texas?

You go to a baseball game in Sug-

ar Land, of course! That’s what 24

St. Philippians and friends (all age

50+) did on September 17. The

group took the Harris County Pre-

cinct 3 bus from the church to

Constellation Field to see the Sug-

ar Land Skeeters take on the

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. It

was a fun night of socialization,

hot dogs, popcorn and ice cream.

Everyone even received a souve-

nir blue and yellow scarf with a

red-eyed fighting Skeeter on it!

How awesome is that? One mem-

ber of the group was surprised

when a rubber baseball landed in

her lap (can you say “Myrtle

Dawkins”?). Another person who

went on the outing was originally

from Russia and had never been

to a baseball game before! It was

a really nice evening. And, of

course, the Skeeters stung the

Blue Crabs by a score of 4 to 1.

the kitchen supply room, repaired

tables and chairs in the Fellow-

ship Hall, and dusted the Sanctu-

ary pews to make the church

clean and shiny. A great big

THANK YOU to everyone who

helped.

If you enjoy garden work, or

small fix-it-up jobs, the church

would love to have you. We

can always use someone to do

some light gardening or small

jobs around the church. If you

see something you would like

to do, please let Marilyn Lacour

at the church office know and

she will be glad to help you get

started.

On Saturday September 24th,

many St. Philipian’s braved the

lingering heat to help spruce up

the church campus. Our wonder-

ful volunteers trimmed trees,

clipped hedges, weeded flower

beds, and did other landscaping

work. They also power-washed the

buildings and sidewalks, cleaned
