PRAY WITH THE HEART PRAYER GROUP will meet this Wednesday, September 28TH at 7:30 pm for Eucharistic Adoration, Rosary and Prayer in the Adoration Chapel. LITTLE BETHLEHEM CHRISTIAN is a group that represents 200 Christian families who live in Bethlehem and make their living as wood carvers. On October 8th & 9th after all the Masses, the group represented by the Alsahouri family will display a collection of hand-carved olive wood religious items. The profit goes to support the Christianity in the land of Christ. Last year, Youth Ministry organized a loose change collection drive to help build wells in Af-rica. Last year, thanks to your generosity, our parish joined with others to donated over $200,000.000 and built 18 wells in Ghana, Africa. This year, we are focusing on helping another vulnerable group in society: the unborn. We will be doing a diaper drive Octo-ber 23rd to benefit local crisis pregnancy centers. You need only one godparent and this person must be Catholic; to have celebrated Confirmation; is at least 16 years of age, and is practicing the faith (attending mass each week and celebrating the sacra-ments.) RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Weekly instruction classes have begun, but it isn’t too late to register. Call Carolyn for more information. Biblical Roots of the Mass – A 5-week study is begin-ning that will help you discover the riches of the Mass and new prayer translations. Don’t wait until Advent to study these changes; they are significant and full of theological beauty. Classes begin soon; call Carolyn to register.
THE NEW TRANSLATION OF THE ROMAN MISSAL
The Creed (“I believe …”)
New: “We believe” will now be“I believe.” The change from the plural, “we”, to the singular, “I”, now unites us with the entire Church. After Vatican II, English was the only language that translated the words to “We be-lieve.” “I believe” is an exact translation of the Latin, Credo. The use of “I believe” makes the faith statements that we profess in the Creed more personal. As individuals, we cannot speak for the collective beliefs of others pre-sent, we can only make a personal act of faith, i.e. I believe in God the Father Almighty….

Please plan to join us and the 40 days for Life effort! 40 DAYS FOR LIFE KICK OFF EVENT : 40 Days for Life will be kicked off with a Holy Hour for Life event which will include Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, a pro-life rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, intercessions, private prayer time and also Benediction on Wednesday, September 28th at 7:30 pm at St. John the Evangelist Church in Frederick. For more information, please call 301-363-8157. 40 DAYS FOR LIFE – SEPT 28 TH THRU NOV 6TH: St Peter’s will join many across the country and local churches here in Frederick, starting this week , in a powerful, life-saving campaign comprised of prayer as well as prayful vigil at the Toll House Ave Abortion Facility. St Peter’s days are the 6 Saturdays of October 1st, 8 th, 15th, 22nd, 9th, and November 5th , from 7 am to 7 pm. We ask all to consider signin g up for an hour on one of these days. We need 2 people for each hour. Sign-ups are in the Narthex after the M asses . We ask all to pray daily for 1) women and babies in danger of abortion, 2) for healing for those who carry pain from past abortions and 3) for workers in abortion facilities and leaders/lawmakers who misguidedly support them. BIRTHRIGHT OF FREDERICK: Can you commit 4 hours or more per month to helping women in crisis pregnancy?
